Ok, so I've had 3 fish die within the past 3 days...a clown, a bi color angel, and a six line wrasse. They all went from happy and healthy to dead pretty much overnight. I never observed any spots, the only irregular behavior was some rapid breathing from the clown and angel. The speed of deterioration has me thinking clownfish disease. I tested my water quality and took it to the lfs with the same results. It's all good.

So here are my questions...

Agree with clownfish disease?

If I go to hyposalinity my dt, how will that affect my live rock?

Can parasites affect snails, crabs and shrimp?

If there are no fish in the tank, then the parasite will die without a host, correct? There is no need then to go hypo?

I'm going to set up a ht to try and treat what I have left, do I fill it with freshly mixed saltwater or take established water from the dt?

Thank you for the time it takes to answer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

No the parasites don't infect inverts... I'm sorry but to die that fast was.not a parasite ..u had a water quality issue ...

Don't put anything but fish through hypo or it will die... If u have not fish in dt leave fishless for 8 weeks u are good to go ...

What kind of water quality issue would do that though? All my inverts are still good.
Ammonia is 0
Trites are 0
Trates are 5 - never been better
Ph 8.3
1.024
It's fowlr, so I don't add any supplements.

Not true...brooklynella AKA,clownfish disease does move and kill very quickly ...Less than 24 hours in most cases ..It will affect all fish ,not just clowns..
Inverts can not host ,but parasites can hitch a ride on them..

Sorry you lost your fish,,IMO it does indeed sound like brook

Thanks. What treats clownfish disease? I have 2 fish that I have moved to a hospital tank to treat. Gonna leave the display empty except for my inverts for...a month? 2 months?

2 months would be best..
You will need to get some formalin and either give the fish a dip in it(this is what i would do) or dose and treat your hospital tank with it...

Thank you for the help. One last question...does the maintenance schedule stay the same when running a fallow tank? Water change as I normally would and still run the skimmer and power heads? It's just going to have inverts in it. No corals.

NP..
Yeah,i would just leave it run as is ,excluding the lights,
you could probably get away with no WC's too.
