I came home from work today and I found a batta in a 1.5 gallon tank in sitting in the kitchen! My sister apparently bout a batta without telling me! Well this just won't do! It doesn't even have filters or lights or anything.
I am going to try to convince her to let me put it in my 90 gallon tank, but first I need to know if it will get along with everything/ be happy in there.
First off I know that battas like slow moving water well... I have a FX5 and a Fluval 305 on the 90 gallon, but the left side of the tank has little movement. Will the water movement be a problem?
And compatibility in my tank I currently have:
6 neon tetras
5 haliquin rasboras
3 Kerry tetras
2 fancy rossy barbs
1 silver hatchet fish
1 female killifish
3 dwarf neon rainbows
2 upside down catfish
2 SAE
And some nerite snails

Will this at all work? Please help this poor batta...

It's Betta. With an 'E' :)
The 90g would be better than the 1.5g but IMO neither are very suitable. The 90g is quite large with lots if flow. The Betta might not take to it very well. Some of them don't handle large spaces very well. I think the best option is either get a 5g tank for it or return it to the store.

Thanks for the spelling correction ;)
I have one other option... I have a 7.9 gallon fluval flora right now it has 1 gardini killifish in it. I could sell the killifish if i have to... The betta can not be returned because my sister just got home from collage and has had it for a while...

The fluval sounds perfect. I'm not familiar with killifish so I can't comment if they could share but if your willing to move/sell it it will definitely work.

I had the killifish in my 90 gallon in the past but one day I walked in and it had a whole neon tetra in its mouth (the neon is still alive to this day). It never picked on anything larger than the neon but I don't know if it will be okey with the betta or not... I will have time wait for someone else to chime in....

I have my betta in my tank with an
Angel
Turquoise rainbows
Neon tetra

Is just put it in there to see how it does! If it starts fighting or the flow is too much, take it out. IME any fish can be compatible with one another. For example, just because a betta is known as a fighting fish doesn't mean it is a killer. My betta nor angel fish have ever fought or attacked each other or any other fish. So I'd say go for it! Just monitor it for a while and see how it responds to everything! Plus, all of the fish in your tank could definitely swim faster than the betta, especially at short bursts.

If i try anything then it would probably be putting the betta in the 7.9 gallon. I wouldn't mind relocating my killifish (she stares at me like she wants to eat me, water changes are a dramatic experience)

Any last second thoughts before I accumulate the betta to the 7.9 gallon?

The betta and the killifish is not going to work. The betta kept flaring its fins and gills at the killifish. What should I do?
I have an extra 10 gallon tank, heater, and filter, but the filter is like a penguin 150 or something like that... do I set up that tank? If so do I put the betta or the killifish in it? I don't have any gravel or lights for the tank.

Well yesterday I had the killifish in a net inside the tank and when i left the room the killifish jumped out and into the tank, when I came back into the room (I was trying to relocate the killifish) I found the betta hiding for dear life in some plants with beat up fins. I was shocked when I saw this and i feel terrible! I should have known better than to leave it in a net...
Well now the killifish has a new home with the neighbors, and i have a betta with some ripped fins.
I have a few questions on how to care for this beautiful fish:
How can i help the fin healing possess?
How much should i feed him?
What is the best water temperature?
How can I tell if there is too much water movement in the tank?

Thank you! I want to be the best i can to this poor betta...

IME each Betta has their own personality and are soooo fun to keep.

Recently got a beautiful dragon scale one and it was still very small/young figured I could have it in with a young Cory while I waited to get a new tank set up. They were approx. the same size, but the little Betta (male) kept dive bombing the little Cory every time it saw him pop out from the decorations. Moved the little Betta back to his own kingdom. He is pretty particular, I don't think I could get away with a snail in his house!

On the other hand, I have one large one named Tiger, tricolor butterfly who seemed to enjoy spending time with a few guppies, Fire Red with little flow-y tails. Flared at them for a bit and then started hanging around them like he was part of the gang, although their energy levels are different he would go chill and come right back and hang out (15 gal).

Also they love nice soft plants to lay in the leaves of. I happen to use chain sword, and also I know it isn't a aquatic plant but we would grow stems of Arrowhead (Nephthytis) plants in a kitchen window sill vase garden which ended up becoming loose plants in their containers and the shape of their leaves are like a hammock and they love them. Arrow head plants are very good water cleaners too.

Side note - Have heard the sap is toxic, but I have kept these plants with the fish, for over 15 years, and have never seen any ill effect. Obviously I feed my fish and don't starve them expecting them to eat plant roots, so I have never seen problems and have trimmed roots and leaves and no problems done this with my bare hands and I have sensitive skin.

My favorite food is Hikari Bio-Gold. Doesn't cloud the water, and recently has been changed in the size of the pellet to be a little smaller, and it is even better now. Also used Hikari free dried blood worms as a supplement. Bettas are one of my favorites!

That explains why my betta keeps swimming in my Java moss (he swims down the side of the tank and wedges himself between the glass and the plants and then swims out then does it again lol!
I have done some research and i read that bettas like the tank to be between 78-80°F (that seems rather warm) is that correct?

80 degrees is the preferred temperature. You are correct. All he needs to heal his fins is lots of clean water. Do an extra water change during the week while he's healing. You will see the fin grow back clear then gain its color later on. Bettas stomachs are about the size of their eye. They don't need much food. I feed mine 2-3 1-2mm floating pellets a day. I fast once or twice a week. Be careful feeding freeze dried foods. They can cause constipation. Frozen blood worms and brine shrimp can be fed in a small amount once a week instead of pellets that day.

Will do! Lots of clean water (2 50% pwc a week?). I will also slowly work the temp up to 80°
Thank you so much Mumma.of.two!

+1 agree completely, I would not put this fish in that large tank.

After this experience I 100% agree! He will have this 7.9 gallon tank for the rest of his life. (Hopefully a long, long time)

I can't believe how "alive" the betta (named Benit) has become! While he was in the 1.5 gallon he would basically sit at the surface occasionally swimming a little, but now he swims all over the place, he almost looks like he is smiling at me! This is not a shy fish, whenever I walk up to the tank he comes out front and displays his fins (can you tell this is my first betta LOL!) If he could type he would tell everyone that has helped Thank You!
