AS many of you, my lobster is a relative of Satan. I took my 20 gallon down today and was wondering if I should put him in there by himself??? He kills all new fish and also takes food out of my anemones tentacles. This way he wouldn't kill or harm anything and I could make sure he got food alot easier. Hes about 5". Should I move him into the 20? Would it be big enough for him? I could move him back to the 150 when he outgrows the 20 because he only messes with fish when they're added to his territory. Any thoughts??? And also, I can take rock apart so what are some good methods of catching the little bugger? Any advice would be appreciated.

No. I'll be moving him a little later. Would a 20 work????? Atleast for awhile?

A 20 would be pushing it. If it's temporary it may be ok. What about your sump? If you have a refugium going he would be better off there unless it's way small.

The refugium is the same size as the 20 just not as tall. My skimmer section had to be big as my skimmer is big. He doesn't kill anything thy was in the tank before him. So if I let him get used to the 20 and then add some fish and put him back after he gets used to the 20...... That should work right?

It could but as he (or she) grows it may still attack fish. If you want to keep him that's as fine a course of action as any I know of. Opportunistic territorial carnivores just come with a risk. No one can say for sure what he'll do except that you already know that adding fish with him in there means they're feeders. lol The only thing you can really do is try your plan. What happens next will be up to Larry.

Up to larry??? I'll move hints 20 for 2-3 weeks when I get new fish then hell go back.... If I can catch him.

Sorry, I just couldn't help myself. Wasn't the lobster on Spongebob named Larry? Guess something like Chompers, Clubber Lang, Clamps, Mack the Claw or The Red Assassin would be better nicknames/titles for the little brute. I do agree with him on one thing: fish are yummy!

Oh lol. I'll try putting him in the 29 when I get a new fish and moving him back after a little bit.

Hey. Just wondering what sort the little killer is? And goodluck with the move

Caribbean spiny lobster. Has killed 3 fish many inverts.

He is a very cool creature, but not recommended for a community aquarium obviously. They can get quite big. This one was over 2' long.

Ik they can get huge. I was misinformed when I acquired him. Hopefully he'll stay relatively small.

If you like lobsters, try a reef lobster. They rarely get bigger than 5" where most varieties of spiny lobsters get over a foot long. And the size of the tank doesn't seem to slow their growth down at all.

When this guy goes I'm not getting any more. They're too territorial. He's not growing alot now. Hopefully hell stay around this size and I can keep him for awhile. Just gonna out him in the 20 for 2-3 weeks when i get a new fish. You think that would work?

Even if I move him to a 20 and let the new fish acclimate? Cuz he's fine with things that were added before him...... So if he gets used to the scape and territories in the 20...... Hm.......... Thoughts?

Sorry ya ok. I'll try that. It said something else. I guess you edited your message. Idk. Lol. I want a huge tomato clown so I'll try it.
