Does anyone else's cory cats, when they go up and get a bite of air, squeak? I just heard one of my cory cats squeak when it went up for air, and have no idea why it did that, and have never heard that before.

Hmm Ive never heard mine squeak. I do have a Raphael cat that will apparently squeak when stressed. I wonder if most catfish can squeak?

Yes all catfish have the ability to squeak. The squeak that you are hearing is a form of communication between the species. They do it for numerous reasons, warning that there is a predator near by, competition between themselves, attracting mates. The list is endless, I really wouldn't worry about it honestly.

Um, I asked in another thread why they were lining up and going back and forth, and someone said it might be a mating thing. Then you bring up attracting mates. Am I gonna be seeing some Cory cat love?

You never know. Some Cories will spawn without provocation and will do so often and others can be stubborn. They might be doing it for the joys of communication. If I pay attention and listen closely I can sometimes hear my pleco clicking or my Syno squeaking in the tank, and who knows why they are doing that

Oh boy. I will panic if I start seeing Cory cat love. I only bred guppies, if you could even say I did it. I don't know nothin about Cory cat love or Cory cat babies.

Well you never know but it never hurts to do a little research.
Cory Cats are very odd ducklings at times it can be hard trying to explain anything that they do and why

Sounds like it. My Cory laid eggs today. When i notice them they were super active, then I looked and I saw my female depositing eggs. If they seem a lot more active than normal and are all over one Cory then you could very well be seeing some egg laying going on pretty soon!

Holy monkey nuggets. Looks like I'm going over to the breeding section and looks like I'm breaking out the 3-gal again. Either that, or the dwarf gourami will eat them, which ain't cool, especially since they're just little newborn cuddly lovable teddy bears. They have sporadic moments of insane hyperness, as in a tiny little water change will send them repeatedly Free Willy leaping and doing backflips. Yes, it did happen earlier this week. I got two that keep trying to bury their heads in the sand (?) and it's really weird to watch. Then Mr. Antisocial will go off into a corner alone and sit, like he always does.

Now, I have a million stupid questions about this topic. What do cory cat eggs look like? Where do they like to lay them? How will I know they're about to drop?

Since my Cory just laid eggs, majority was laid on the glass, some was on plants. I had in my 10g I moved them too. These aren't the best pictures but here is some pictures of mine. Also I noticed right before she would drop some eggs you will notice another cory come up to around the females mouth and curve their body around her head (the two cories form a t shape). This picture is dark.. But his is the shape they make when the male curves his body near the females mouth.

Before I realized my female was laying eggs mine were acting all crazy hyper too. Just watch them closely and you will see when she starts to lay them, you will see a cluster of eggs in between her fins on he stomach.

Do these guys lay them in clusters? I'm sorry, I don't see your pictures attached. Guess the 3-gal is going back up. Eek. At least it's one positive thing in a so far negative Nancy week of college. Time to go insane. Lol.

Insanity Dance:
Lol.
