If you can access the back of the tank when it is filled I don't see why not. Just cover all openings very well. As long as paint stays out of the tank you should be fine. You don't want to paint the inside of a filled tank though, I'm not sure if that's what you meant or not lol

Yeah defo paint it. Matt black or dark blue, both look great....I like painted.
