Wouldn't the rubble trap a bunch of detritus too? Do you need to clean it? Why put LR in there when you have a bunch in the display?

Live rock will grow BB just like those plastic balls. Your just better off with the live rock. You don't have to clean it. Some even put a crab and a few snails in there.

Also you can make it a fuge. Even with the live rock you can add the fuge light from the outside and make it like another small tank.

I've seen people use the back with live rock, a small CUC, light and even some corals. It's up to you. Removing the bio balls also helps with flow.

Very interesting. Im fascinated by the idea of it. I have just been running my remora back there and was going to add some filter floss or something. More and more I'm thinking about adding chaeto and/or live rock and pods though. Seems much more natural and interesting then just cleaning floss or bio balls every week.

They are loud all the more reason to toss them. I went with the AI SOL BLUE LED fixture with controller. I love the inTank media basket and for the rest I just added live rock rubble.

You've definitely sold me on the AI SOL super blue fixture. I see you cut a hole in your hood for the heat sink. It looks beautiful. How did you fasten the fixture in place though?

I cut just a hole big enough to get the "light" part of it through. The fan part is slightly bigger and will rest on top. I then just ran a bead of black silicon around it to seal it. Your also able to keep the stock splash guard which was a plus.

I'm looking at pictures of the fixture and it all looks about the same size to me. I guess maybe once I have it in person I might notice the difference in size between the light part and the fan part. If all else fails I could just cut the hole and glue it in place with the black silicone. I am so **** excited for this beast to arrive :D

Yea between the light part which is white and the top part which is grey or silver is a tiny bit wider. It will seat itself right on top if you don't cute the hole too big.

Measure the hole for the light side, white side.

Perfect. Did you use a dremel to cut it? I used one to cute a hole for my remora and found it pretty difficult to be precises. Maybe I'll try and exacto knife this time. Slow and steady.

Awesome. Thanks for being so patient with all my retarded questions haha.

Nah... Bro don't say that. Your questions weren't retarded. There questions. I commend you for being smart and for also being patient and willing to learn before just jumping into it blind.

I'm here to help with what I can and other also.

Anything else just give a shout!

Your gonna do just fine I can tell! Your already off on the right foot.

I have my lights. Just waiting on my controller to set it up. They were on back order D: hopefully in a week or so. I'll post before and after pics.
