Some blurry shots of the new boys

The first 2 are Cthulu

3rd pic is Rommel

4th is Ramses

I am sorry the camera does not do the fish justice. They are much more colorful than these pics

Very nice! Cthulhu is a great name for that one! Btw, have you seen any of my pictures of my 56 gallon with the Cthulhu background?
Sorry to hear you ended up losing Elizabeth. I was hoping she would pull through for you!

Beautiful boys! Congratulations and I'm so sorry to hear your girl didn't make it. To me this is the worst part of having pets, their lifespans are usually so much shorter then ours and having to say goodbyes is so very sad and painful. Again, I am so sorry

maybe tonight I will move Loki over to the sorority and leave Mary and Guinevere in and see who his chooses. I noticed when he was floating in there those two spent alot of time watching him. The other girls will go to a nuther tank and we will see if I get fry finally!
Cant wait to bred Rommel....I am thinking I may get a mustard type out of him, but he is so young yet, may have a few months yet on him.
No nunnery thank God! Looks like three of them have very good stripes this morning!

A short movie of Rommel and my sweet little Loki. He is a wonderful little guy and I fully enjoy his company. Notice he comes right to the camera!! Rommel is still new so he isn't used to the routine and not showing personality yet.

Cant wait for skeeter season here so my boys and girls can have fun as well! Looks like a good meal fer you girl!!!!

Ok so this will be a very dumb question but... Here I go. Do you guys get your skeeter larvae from your back yard? I know! Sounds crazy I know but that's how I'm understanding your posts. Either that or you have a local skeeter breeder. ????? I feed mine frozen food (variety) and since they got a taste of it they won't touch commercial pellets or flakes.

yeah cuz I tested it here and it worked. But no one else has commented yet???? I hope it's there! I also got movies a a few of the other guys including the Blue Orchid Odin!

Yeah, I checked the full site (still from the iPad) and it showed the video but wouldn't let me play it. So I guess it's just an incompatibility issue with IOS.

And yes, you can collect mosquito larvae in your back yard pretty easily. Just sit a container of water out and wait! Then when you see little larvae moving around, net them out, check them for anything other than mosquito larvae, since some insect larvae is predatory, and feed them to the fish! Just be sure to not hang onto them too long, as you don't want a bunch of Mosquitos hatching in your house!

Edited to add - Anyone here a member of the IBC (International Betta Congress) or thinking of joining? I'm definitely considering it, myself.

I net them up then rinse them, some times I stick them in like a clean pickle jar or something clear so I can see I only have skeeter larvae. (and it further cleans the larvae) Then net em back up and drop them in with your fish and watch the frenzy! Make sure you don't dump in more than they can eat at a time. Just keep the extra in the jar and feed them in later. I use a screen over the jar so the critters can breath, but if any hatch, they aint in the house!!!!
Geez Alyxx between the 2 of us we should be like founding members! LOL Seriously I may look into it as well!
