So as I sort of explained in my other post.. My flatmate went to pick me up a new bigger tank today for my tropical fish to go in from a family member, when he got there he called me to say the tank already had cichlids in it, weve always wanted them so decided to take the tank anyway as my tropicals are fine where they are. Problem is we don't know much at all about them so pleaseeeee can people help me identify them and any extra information/advice would be brilliant! We've already had to move one fish to a separate tank on his own to heal as he'd been beaten up so badly by the others.

I'll post pictures in comments from my phone.
thanks

This is the aggressive one mainly

And this is the one which was bullied so he's seperate and colours aren't great. He looks like he's going blue though

Second is a blue ahli third is a big yellow lab, the third looks like a sunshine peacock maybe? The first I don't know, his colors kind of look like Victorian colors. Not sure, these aren't positive ids either

I meant the fourth looks like a sunshine

The first one definitely looks like a victorian to me. And i'm not completely sure but i don't think the third is a yellow lab. It has no black stripe on its dorsal fin.

I don't believe all yellow labs have the black stripe

Thank you for the replies. After googling pictures i definitely agree the blue one looks like a blue ahli. Not sure about the sunshine peacock because if it is then its not very coloured up at the moment. And is there anything else the yellow one could be? It's pretty big, biggest in the tank, like probably about 5 inches long but it's body is quite big and tall too.

Also any suggestions for then one who's been beaten up?

Ah god I don't know what to do! the Person who had this tank before us seriously didn't look into anything before buying it! The beaten up fish which was in a separate tank died last night but the ones in the cichlid tank are just beating eachother to death! The yellow one is the worst, it is attacking everything including the pleco! (The pleco has been in there since before it was a cichlid tank, he was originally my flatmates so don't really want to get rid of him) the bigger blue ahli is really picking on the smaller one, pretty sure we have a male and a female and when ive researched them theyre supposed to be kept alone or in big groups. The fish that people think may be a Victorian cichlid is getting badly picked on and not getting any food I don't think, ill be surprised if he lives much longer.

What shall I do???

There is currently
2 Blue ahli,
1 Yellow cichlid, possibly a lab
1 possible Victorian cichlid
and whatever the fish in the 4th picture is
oh and a pleco (yes I know if he is a common pleco he will outgrow the tank and about high bioload, I told my flatmate he was stupid when he bought it but he will be rehomed when he gets bigger, he is currently only about 5/6 inches.)

I THINK the tank is 180/200 litres maybe? and levels are fine, lots of filtration too. so what do I do?
Rehome what? Put certain rock/hiding places in it? I know youre meant to slightly overstock cichlids to calm some aggression but I Don't want to make the bioload too high?

I also have a 138 litre tropical tank (including bristlenose pleco and a 130 litre goldfish if anything needs to move however I don't want to mess up my other two tanks and risk losing my fish unless I have to.

Well you might as well re home the ahlis, they need at minimum a 70 gallon tank. You may just want to start over actually, because any other mbuna you put in the tank, will most likely get bullied to death by the labidochromis caeruleus (yellow lab) because of how large he is. This isn't what you have to do by any means, that is just probably what I would do.

Thanks for replying. To be honest that's what I was thinking of doing, just need to convince my flatmate cos really they're his fish. So do you think the others will be okay today if I get rid of the yellow lab and the ahlis? The others seem a lot more laid back. So then there would just be 1 possible Victorian cichlid, turns out there is 2 of the other one in the picture (I can't tell if they're actually the same or not, until they colour up its really hard. I'm thinking maybe same breed but one male one female, will try and get picture) and the pleco. What would you add after that?

I say take back the few most aggressive ones and see what happens then. Or if you got rid of everything, you can stock it however you want. How many gallons is the tank?

Well fish from lake Victorian can be pretty aggressive to, so watch that first colorful one. Once he gets comfortable, his attitude could change. But Ya after you take back the ahlis and the lab, those other fish should be fine. And stocking wise, just depends what you want to do. Either all mbuna or all peacocks, I wouldn't recommend mixing the two in a tank that size. You should be able to put about 15 in your tank with proper filtration and water changes.

Your looking at 47 / 52 gallons from the liters you mentioned (180/200) so i would suggest rehoming all fish and staying on the smaller side of cichlids say 3.5 - 5in which i personally would stay more at the smaller end.. not sying all your fish dont fit the tank just it mayb easier starting over

Im not sure if that yellow is a lab .. they are more docile usually and get along with everything. But im definately not an expert on ids..

Also once you remove the dominate fish / bully another fish is just gonna take over the role .. make sure you have plenty of hiding spots and breaks in eye sight mayb rearrange the tanks current setup if it hasnt already been done.. if it has they may be trying to reestablish dominance or territories .... good luck

I think the on that died was a cynotilipia afra ... it had similar marking on it head and a similiar build
