Following along. Ive just set up some planted tanks as well and am always interested in what others are doing and how theyre doing it.

Yeah, I haven't done much, because I've been busy. But I think I'll order plants by this weekend.

UPDATE:

I just ordered cabomba, water wisteria, ludwigia repens, and hygrophila sp. bold. I had never heard of the last one before, but now I have. :D Comments, questions? Anything? This build will finally pick up speed, I hope. I will be getting some RCS once I've planted all of the plants I want, and then after that I'll get some CPDs. Yay!

Cabomba, water wisteria, and ludwigia repens got here! So excited! I planted them, and here's a pic!

You need to plant each Cabomba stem individually so the leaves of one stem are almost but not quite touching the leaves of the stems around it. If you leave them in a clump most likely the bases will rot and leaves will fall off because not enough light and water movement can get to the lower stems.

Then move the wisteria over closer to the Repens because you want plant groups with different leaf shapes and colors planted next to each other. Right now the green wisteria just blends into the cabomba. If you move it on the other side it is different enough from the Repens for each plant grouping to stand out and not blend together.

Okay, thanks Rivercats. I'll change the cabomba, but there is white sand between the cabomba and the ludwigia so I don't want to plant anything on it. However, there will be some hygrophila sp bold coming in soon, and that will go in the corner next to the wisteria, to provide some contrast. Also, I plan on eventually having some alternanthera reineckii in front of the cabomba for more contrast. Does that make sense?

You'll have to post pic's once it's all in. Just remember you want each grouping to stand out with different shaped leaves and color from the groupings around it.

Well, the video isn't working for me. If it's not working for anyone else than I'll just take some pics.

*sigh*

I just have to state that I love my water wisteria! It has grown so fast and has sprawled along the substrate. It is my favorite plant right now.

Cool. How did you plant it? With each stem an inch apart? Each of mine are inch apart except two of them are kind of side by side.

Yeah I started off with two steams and once the reached the top I had cut them and replanted those two. And I could keep doing it but I don't care to have my whole tank planted with wisteria. And I had also gave it room from the walls of the tank.
