is he grinning?

Yes, and he ate his first 2 snails. Chomp chomp! It might not be a he? But he is a he to me with a name like diddy P he must be he!
I'm so happy!

To top it all off I finally got clearance to start work so I need not worry about money, the best day ever! I also made pals with my new local fish store, not so local, I drive past three, but the guy is clever. They took my gibbiceps from me, they remembered and did me a real good deal on a big bag of stuff! Lovely jubbly!

Edit- well done on the light rig! Hope George is feeling better, if he disappears, I stole him!

Did siphon and 50%wc , and added 1 fruit tums (for snails ) for my 20g and 29g.
Did full WC on all 7 of my Betta
Went to check and do WC for roomates Betta since she's on a mission trip .... Found her female Betta dead :( I feel bad for when she gets home . Last time I checked it looked perfectly fine and was such a lovely color ... House temp is 70F. I got some Shells from dollar store . so to be safe they are soaking In water for a few days with xtra prime to clean and make sure they are safe before they go in my tanks

Sorry to hear about your gourami :( I've just lost my betta too tumours only had him for 2 months.
Good to hear your betta is improving hope he gets better for you.

Oh, that Betta was so beautiful.

That is terrible news. I am more sorry for you, since you only had him a couple months.

Things here are fairly calm right now with the tanks. Might have enough time tomorrow to move the other fish.

Just had a little chat with the old lady a couple of doors down who keeps a couple of fancy Goldfish in a very small tank. They look unhealthy so i am thinking about loaning her a 20G i am not using if she wants it. I gave her some Ludwigia and a bit of Cabomba to put in her tank and while talking to her afterwards i got a call from the pet shop. My Pygmy Chain Sword had supposedly come in. Mad rush to the pet store before they closed. It was actually dwarf chain sword :(. I've been chasing pygmy chain sword since the day i decided to plant out my tanks

My plants now are.
Ludwigia (not sure which variety but it goes reddish on the underside of the upper leaves)
Cabomba
Cryptocoryne Lucens
2 Dwarf Pongols.
A bunch of chain sword that i wish was the dwarf sword i asked for.
2 suspected garden plants that came with a mixed bunch, both are showing some growth from new buds but the old leaves all dropped off soon after entering the tank (my light isn't brilliant so it's entirely possible they are aquatic but without enough light).

Well I haven't done it yet, but today is the day I will be breaking down all my tanks and packing them up and moving them into my mom's house, about an hour away. When I get there I get to clean out my old room, set up my bed and at least some of my tanks, get the fish (and cats) settled in, then turn around and drive back to get my boyfriend back since he will be driving the truck so i can follow with my car and turn the truck back in. It will be a nightmare of logistics, and I have 8 running tanks to move. Wish me luck!

Good luck! I know you will need it, I shifted all of my tanks twice in 12 months, re-homed loads of fish etc. it is time consuming and tiring without all the driving!
Hope the fishes get back ok! Drive safe!

Wishing for you a non eventful smooth running day/move with healthy fish.

Yeah its already "eventful"... the electricity got cut off not long after I posted earlier. Fun fun fun...

Also I lost my fish bags and the cats are rebelling.

I really really hate moving.

Holding tank (45) 8 litre water change. Contains obviously sick fish and Cory's.
Puffer tank, watched for ages, fed snail. PUFFERS ROCK :band:
750, drain to 400.
120, observed, looks great wants more plants. Tetra shoal look great.

Spent yesterday tracking down worming meds, got some ordered for sat, today 1 fish looked bad, like it won't make it to Saturday. Went to store, chap changed my order and got a special consignment shipped to his shop for this afternoon.
I did convince him by showing him the full build process, after he discovered I'm a fish fanatic he couldn't do enough to help.
They arrived promptly, notified by phone rushed back to the store and then home, calculated volumes for all of my tanks at the current level and administered a shed load of fizzy tablets.
Phew!

Just the night feed and then I'm done!

Best night feed to date that has been caught on camera.

6 of 11 C Macs. More pics available, new acquisitions, new fish house. Even more pics, my fishes set, follow link to Flickr, should be up some time tomorrow.

So I got everything drained and packed, most of my fish seem to have frozen to death due tono electricity all day. And the actual move will happen in the morning. Bad bad day.

Edit - yeah... lots of dead fish. Including some favorites. Puffers ok, ninja ok, baby bettas ok. But lots of others are not. Stupid cold weather. Looks like I will soon be in the market for new fish. Moving really sucks.

:( That really sucks. So sorry.

Thanks. On the cursory examination I gave them before I brought my boyfriend to work many more of them looked ok than they did last night. About to go bring him his cat and pick up the fish before taking the truck down to my mom's. We spent the night at his new place and the fish came with us so they too could sleep in a warm room. This has been a logistics nightmare!

Started the cycle with pure ammonia on the 20 long, dosed way to much ammonia :(. Got a nice 5lb piece of live rock to go into the 60 cube, came with a couple snails and hermits! Also covered in feather dusters and some kenya tree.

Finally got a chance to see my fish after 2 days of non stop farm work. (My fish tanks reside at my parents until I get my own place) My mom has been taking care of them lately. Everyone looks happy and well fed. Going to do some arrangements for more plants.

Nice! Good luck with the plsnts

Fed. Watched tanks. Added a baby pleco to tank. Moved a pregnant female cichlid after seen she was getting smaller in mouth and eating eggs. That didnt stop her. She kept at it. I saved the last 2 from her now in my homemade tumbler. A first. We'll see how that works.

Still not moved in. Was way too tired to safely drive home after unloading and returning the moving truck. Almost all of my favorite fish are dead. This has been a really stressful couple of days. I'm just happy all my baby bettas are ok. Both the parents are gone. RIP most expensive fish I have ever bought (Ninja the all black betta).

Well i hope everything starts going better for you when you are in the new place. It's nice to know that you have some survivors at least. Maybe next time you have to move you can arrange todo one tank at a time.

So after getting some dwarf chain sword instead of pygmy chain sword yesterday (which i was very sad about). I bought a bunch of the dwarf anyway and planted it between 2 tanks. I noticed a hairline crack in a thermometer i bought a couple of days previously and removed it. Tapped the botttom very gently and it disintegrated so the removal was timely.

Today my Pygmy Chain Sword came in. I celebrated by also buying the smallest Anubias they had there, got them all home and planted the pygmy sword which i planned to put in my tank as the first plant. Opened the Anubias bag later and it had 2 plants in the 1 package :brows: 2 for one deals are sexy in my books so i found a rock to tie one of them to and left the other floating for the moment.

Side thought, fishing line is not fun to tie things down with.

Very happy with the look of the PCS in the foreground. The light green catches the light really well. I just hope my lights support it. My tank is starting to look nice. I might grab a bunch of wisteria to add contrasting shape then i pretty much have my space filled until i decide on some specific lpants i want and upgrade my lighting.

Next step is moving from Comets to something that will suit my 20g tanks better. I really like my big comet though. He eats greens and fruit out of my hand now and brushes my arm like a cat whenever i put my arm in the water. He needs and deserves a bigger tank or a pond but he's such a friendly fish that i don't want to give him up.
