Hello Sk...

It's likely a leaf that was damaged in some way. I'd trim it off and do a good water change and dose the ferts you typically dose. If the rest of the plant looks good, then don't worry about it. The water change and ferts will stimulate some new growth.

From the look of all the leaves you appear to have some nutrient deficiencies. What ferts are you using and how often? Do you know your nitrate reading?

Well its a fluval roma 90 standard two t5 bulbs. Firstly i dont know if that is sufficient? I have no co2 setup although i have recently purchased a setup but it was missing a couple bits. Store has shut up for xmas :( i bought some seachem flourish as it was to be used with co2 injected tanks. Not used yet as co2 is not up and running. Substrate has a fluval fert substrate, unsure of name, capped with black sand. Ammonia 0, nitrite 0 nitrate 20. Hope this helps with your diagnosis rivercats

When you say you bought some Flourish to be used with CO2 did you get Flourish Excel? That is a liquid carbon to aid in growth and photosynthesis. Or did you get Flourish Comprehensive? That is a fertilizer. You need to be using the Flourish Comprehensive weekly after WC's.

Do you have other plants? If so what kind? That lighting is fine for Anubia's.

I honestly cant remember Rivercats. I will look wen i get home. I cant remember the plant names but ive got the label things at home. Ive got one of the carpeting grasses though. Theres a plant with pinkish leaves. Theres plants that look like dark green thick grass. Theres one i dont know what it is too. Maybe you can help identify. Thanks

Depending on the plants you have the lighting might be too low. I'll wait to see what plants you have.

I think it is defo too low for the pink leaved plant. I want to upgrade but dont want to remove the hood unless i can get a replacement that is similar. I dont know where to start though. My first tank this is

Most of the time you need to remove the hood and get something like an LED fixture for planted tanks or a T5HO fixture. Stock lighting is normally very low.

Im happy to go led route. In fact i want to but i need to find an led fixture to suit the aquarium and a way of making a sealed lid. We have cats and their cat hair gets everywhere and id rather it not in the tank lol

All my tanks except 3 small ones are open topped and we have dogs and several cats. We foster cats as well as have our own and never have had issues. Not much hair gets into the tanks. You would think there would be a lot but not really. If your handy you can make a cover lid out of screen but this will cut down on how much light goes through it into the tank.

I have a German shepard that sheds like nobodies business, a Yorkie, 5 Siamese and Balinese cats and the only hair I every find in the tank is mine.

Ive already had cat hair in it before. I think it falls off my clothes though during water changes :( any ideas for led lighting for a fluval roma 90 anybody? Im from the uk

Your mystery plant looks like C. wendtii bronze

Alternanthera cardinalis I would suggest medium to high light for this plant and it would greatly benifit this plant if you dosed excel or glut.
Also the dwarf hairgrass should be under high light and be dosed with excel or glut.

What would be the equivalent seachem product?? I like the products and try to stick to their things

Seachem makes excel and in my past uses it does do a very good job.

One more thing I thought that the genus ophiopogon was not an aquatic plant do you know the exact species of this plant? And how long have you had it in your tank?

Sorry i just doubled check. The species is a kyoto. Hope that helps

I'm sorry to say that that plant is not a true aquatic plant and will most likely rot in a few weeks but you are welcome to try I failed at growing a similar species.
This plant is used more as a terrarium plant and edgings on lawns so.....
Merry christmas!
