Tank looks good! It will be fun to watch the plants fill in. I also got some ohko stones from AFA (HUGE stones) and I'm very pleased. A bit pricey, but they were the only source of them I could find.

Haha... that's funny you mention that... it has pretty much come to this. I started out fish-focused, now it's plants. The fish help the plants. This conversion of thought process for me has actually helped me get over my old habit of overstocking my tank. I appreciate balance more so now.

Lol yea, I can see how it can quickly become addicting. I guess being a farmer myself in rel life only makes it that much worse!!!! :brows:

Btw, if wasn't for the ripple at the top of ur water, i would not have known there was water in ur tank. Honestly

How's the skimmer working after a few days? Does it make any noise? I was thinking... it might be possible to use it as a co2 diffuser.

Looks great, man! I'm super excited to watch the UG grow in to touch those stones. Scape looks great. I'm growing out the UG that you sent me, and it's coming along slow and steady.

Nice! I'm just a city slicker. The closest I got to farming is with my planted tanks :)

Thanks... I'm glad it's staying nice and crystal. Good observation!

Max... I believe the skim350 was noisy because I had my diffuser directly under it. The CO2 bubbles were getting pulled in through the top to the point it started burping bubbles. Then it would cause a perpetuating chain reaction of pulling the burped bubbles back in through the top, causing each subsequent burp to get louder with increasingly larger and more abundant bubbles.

I just moved my diffuser away from it and turned the skimmer back on today. When the co2 kicks on this afternoon, I'll see if that solved the problem.

They're growing well. Time will tell how they color up. They started to fade a bit when I had them sitting in my other tank under a Ray 2. I doubt they'd get a deep red because my lighting is moderate. However, I have faith (hope) the color spectrum is going to help from the (x2) Sat+ lights. I'm also dosing Fe with new aqua soil. I'm optimistic to good growth.

Got my (late) xmas present in the mail today... it's also going to be for my photography course I'm taking next session. Anyways, it's the nx300. Don't know how to take pics yet outside of Auto. But took a couple test shots today on auto, thought they looked nice...LOL

On a side note, I wonder if Africana contains more Fe than Amazonia? Isn't there a lot of Fe in clay? I think the Africana looks more like clay than other Aqua Soils... so if there were extra iron or what not, I am starting to see better reds forming from my red plants. BTW, the Sat+ is on sunset mode... so it really helps bring out reds, too.

Looking good! I read somewhere that Africana and Malaya have less iron than Amazonia, but I'm not sure if that's true or not. It could just be the red light from sunset mode causing more red plants. The pictures look great so far- they will look even better once you get the settings figured out. I'm a Samsung fan but haven't tried any of their cameras. What camera were you using before this one?

Thanks, Max. Are you thinking of the nitrogen ammonia content of Amazonia over Africana/Malaya? Or did you read somewhere that iron is lower as well? I just know that Africana doesn't leach ammonia like Amazonia because it's less fortified with nutrients. But I'm curious as to the fired clay aspect in relation to iron? The ingredients is what gives the AS its color.

Anyways... my previous pics were mostly from a GS2, then a GS4, and sometimes with my GF's Canon Xsi DSLR.

Wow! That's a work of art......I'm never posting my tank pics again ;)
