What do guys think are the most over and under rated fish? For me khuli loaches are the most over rated and swordtails or rams for under rated.

Thoughts?

rams underrated? Not In this forumn, Centerpiece all stars.. I think apistos need more face time.. Over rated.. Hmmm.. Cory's ! But than again they're the best;)

IMO Most over rated are Plecos. Most under rated are the dwarf loaches. OS.

I agree on dwarf loaches being underrated. Botia Sidthmunki. I have 4 of them. Most overrated i would say are Rainbows. I got bored of them pretty quick when i had Bosemani and Turquoise. Another underrated are Red Cap Geophagus. I may switch to these one day.

Most underrated, Tinfoil Barb! I have not met one person on this forum that owns them!

Overrated: Danios, guppies

Over rated:
gouramis
guppies
swordtails
mollies
platys

Under rated:
dragon goby (brackish) Love my dragons. Not many people care for them correctly so they never get to enjoy the beauty and personality of them. I've had two of them for years in my BW tank and will be devastated when they die.

I think livebearers (and "breeding" them) are overrated. Underrated I think are dwarf loaches and rainbows.

Completely agree with overrated in my opinion haha and tetras

Corys, for sure are the most overrated. I mean they're fine but not near what their hype suggests. Most underrated would be a large school of ottos in a large tank. Amazing in a big tank.

I'll cop some flak from Surfer on this one but while plecos are nice to look at when visible, they don't do much in terms of visible activity that sets them apart and they carry a fairly big bioload for their size. So i think they are over-rated by some. They are a great part of a clean up crew though and plenty are stunning to look at.

Comets on the other hand cop plenty of criticism for being boring fish. I have a pair of them right now and they are as appreciative of their owner as a dog. Their keeping requirements mean you need a lot of space. If you like interactive fish then a Comet will eventually learn to eat out of your hand and greet you with excited laps of the tank whenever you come into sight.

Cory's are the most overrated and larger catfish like syndontis species and pictus cats are underrated

I think that corydoras can be underrated. In my opinion certain African cichlids can be overrated

Black Ghost Knifes, Clown Knifes, Bala Sharks, Clown Loaches & Common/Sailfin Plecos...all over-rated because many people need to factor the cost of a new tank in with them.

Harlequin Rasbora are under-rated as a gorgeous schooling colourful fish.

Overrated: mollies, tiger barbs, goldfish, glo fish, Gouramis

Underrated: Kribs, Endler's minnows
