Hi there,

I'm really concerned about my guppy who I think has ich. He has white spot on his tail and has lost his appetite and is flashing. I have several red cherry shrimp in my tank and two guppies, one of which has ich. I have read all about ich online and know about different treatments available including raising temp, increasing salinity and medications available. I have not been able to find out what to do if you have a mixed tank with invertebrates and fish as most treatments harm invertebrates. I don't have a quarantine tank to place the invertebrates in whilst treating the fish. Can you please help me? Im really concerned that my guppy will die :(

Thanks so much for your help

Kate

Just do the heat treatment method. Raise the temperature of the tank by a few degrees every hour until the temperature hits 86 degrees and then keep it there for a week after there are no longer any signs of ich. It's perfectly safe for both your fish and the inverts.

There is no need for salt during this.

Shall I add an airstone to make sure I don't reduce oxygen levels too much in the tank?

Thanks for your help :)
