No point in it really, overdose up to 5x for Amm and nitrite binding. What's your intended purpose in overdosing?

I watched my mom dose Prime once. Yikes! She over does it. No wonder she is constantly running out. No harm to the fish that I know of though.

That's actually my one complaint with prime is that if you're just treating a small amount of water (either a five gallon bucket or a 1 gallon jug) it's just about impossible to measure such a small amount!

Thats why I buy the tiny bottle with the dropper cap and refill with a larger bottle. 2 drops/gal.

Otherwise just use a medicine dropper or small needle less syringe.

While refilling the WC bucket, I pour a small amount into the cap and guesstimate the drops going into the bucket. Not very precise.
Made the mistake once of placing the bottle of prime where I normally put the excel/glut. After dosing the ferts I added 15 mL prime to a 20g tank. Definitely more than 5x the recommended dosing. Did a big WC (without the prime this time) to dilute it. Only did that once.

These syringes are perfect for dosing small amounts of prime and are very inexpensive:

Oral Syringe for Cats

I have several of the 6 ml syringes that I use for dosing prime and other things like ferts, excel, meds, etc. They are cheap enough, so I use a different syringe for each bottle and keep them rubber-banded to the bottle.

Just go on amazon... buy the 1 gallon Jug of prime.. and youll never run out.. Those 250-500ml bottles in the pet store don't last long at all.. specially when you have 8 fish tanks like me and you change the water in 2 of them every 2-3 days..

I prefer overdosing anyway.. If its my 27g hexagon.. I just dump a capful.. if its my 44g pentagon (my discus tank) I still dump a capful.. I have tried doing the half capful or 1 little line before in those tanks and it didn't work fast enough and my discus and other fish started acted weird until I added a full capful.. It isn't worth measuring this stuff really. 1 gallon container is $63... that's about 6 or 7 250ml-500ml bottles in petsmart.. and 6 500ml bottles is only 3,000 ML.. A gallon is around 3700ml.. And 6 bottles of 500ml prime in petsmart is $100 plus taxes... So in the end youll be saving $40 and you'll have 700ml extra

Fwiw, the 500 mL bottles ordered from amazon are only about $10 each.

I do buy larger bottles. But I love my tiny bottle for the actual dosing. All my tanks are 10g or under. And I only carry two 1g jugs at a time. So 2 drops of Prime per jug is super easy.

And yes, buying in bulk esp if you have bigger tanks or MTS can really save a lot over time.

$10 each is still more then a 1 Gallon bottle.. youll need 7 of them for 1 gallon.. and $10x7 is $70.. still more then the 1 gallon. Its always cheaper to buy in bulk for chemicals for fish tanks in my opinion anyway
