I've been quietly following a majority of your threads Coursair&want to say a big thx for the advice&knowledge you impart to those on this forum?...looking forward to updated pics of your tank/tanks... http://i.imgur.com/SHjeiZn.jpg
Here's a pic of my tangerine shrimp jungle...

Getcha sleeves wet fish tank people!

Yep. My new pygmaeus look even smaller. It's nice the habrosus and pygmaeus have different styles so they are all over the tank. I think I saw some pygmaeus flirting going on. I will hope for the best and keep up the water changes. I think I have 2.2 habrosus, so we'll see if they decide to breed. I'll add more once my other tank is reset.

That is a beautiful tank! Do you have a post about what you have in your tank(plants, fish, shrimp)? I have a 10g that I got from petco that is laying next to my 45gal that i'm looking for creative ideas for. And your tank is pretty much is what i'm looking for!

Thank You

It's in my profile, but you can't see it using the app.

I do not plan to keep both species of Cory in this tank. I will be restarting my Rimless 10g and probably move one group into that.

At its peak this tank was very heavily stocked. But it is also extremely thickly planted and had weekly water changes. With a very stable tank you can get away with things with nano fish you cannot get away with with regular fish. Their bio load is a lot smaller.

The only extra species I have in the tank right now from when I started it, are the Corydoras pygmaeus.

This was the tank at peak stocking

Apparently both species like the Anubias. Plants are making a comeback now that I'm doing water changes again and adding ferts.

At first from hobbyists on The Planted Tank forums ( free to join). Sales threads are a Members only section. Tapatalk doesn't display it. Have to use a browser.

But then I joined my club. We do meets and have plant swaps at every meet. I think we may be the largest and maybe the oldest Aquatic Plant club ? San Francisco bay area aquatic plant society. SFBAAPS.
So a majority of my plants are free.

I do buy things from other members, but we trade and give away a ton of stuff also. Plus 2 of our best LFS support us and give us discounts. They also let us hold meets at the stores at least once or twice a year , and often offer raffle prizes or special discounted things to us.

My club kept Crypt nurii Pahang mutated alive in our tanks after it became extinct in the wild. Habitat ruined by Palm Oil plantations :(

This was the rare Crypt in my tank. My club member Nick aka Speedie gifted me :)

Today my happy Corydoras got to try frozen Cyclops. All the fish were zooming after them. Watching the new petite CPD girls try it out was great. They started chasing food around the tank as well.

C pygmaeus and habrosus were very busy keeping the plant leaves and substrate clear.

Far little Cories.

Oh and I ordered new plants ??
Crypt affinis Metallic Red
Crypt Florida Sunset
Mini Myriophyllum "Guyana"
Rotala rotundifolia variegated

Tank is messy. Have some stuff floating. Need to thin stuff out, trim off damaged leaves and reset.

I've got Java Ferns and Moss strewn about. No stems at all. But the Vallisneria is running all over my tank LOLImageUploadedByAquarium Advice1420692880.654325.jpg

That's why I've been avoiding pics. But I have hope ?

I want to make a tank just like that, can you give me a price rang for light, plants and products needed for the plants?

Tank ? Including hood and filter was on sale. I paid $15. Employee discount. It was this kit. Original price back then was $30

These days I'd look for sales or pick up a used tank on CL.

Petco is having a $1/gallon sale ?

I'm using an HOB Aqueon filter. It came with my kit. It was nicer than the TopFin kits. The Tetra kit uses an internal filter ?

Lights ? Mini CFLs run $8-12

Sand ? pool filter sand is cheap.

I bought Tahitian Moon Sand Black. I used 20lbs. It was so pretty I wanted it.

Plants ? I bought a couple retail. Discovered The planted tank forum (TPT). Bought stuff off of there.
Joined my club. Got a ton of plants for free. Every meet I go to I get free plants. I'm a member of SFBAAPS.

Ferts ? I would buy on TPT. Lots of deals.

I just bought some plants and root tabs for my tank from hobbyists on TPT.

My RCS came from a CL add. $20 for 15 RCS.

My fish I've gotten various places. My Club does group buys. I'm very lucky to live near some amazing LFS.
TPT, the mart on here and CL can also be good places to check.

If I had to do it over again I would not put any fish in my shrimp tank except Otos.

I should have set up my fish in a diff tank. But now I'll just set up my other 10 gallon for shrimp only. I still have Shrimp, I just never get to see the babies.
