well... the store was trying to make a sale tbh... you have an uncycled tank, which you have no heater or filter for, the cup the betta is in is stagnate and unfiltered and probably filled with ammonia and feeding it is just adding to the issue...

this seems like an impulsive mood with little research... you should always cycle the tank fishless to prevent harm. since you are fish-in cycling your going to need to do daily water changes and monitor your parameters daily.

I can do that

I wasn't the one that bought the betta, and the betta is in a small tank that the store gave us in, and we did ask the lfs if it was okay to leave the fish in there until tomorrow night and they said yes as long as I feed it tonight and tomorrow morning which I have.

By "tank" do you mean that cup?

No, we got a small 1 gallon and I filled it up with water and it's been for 2 days

I completely agree, and my lfs was not just trying to make a sale. My mom used to work with the lady there, and is friends with her, so she wasn't just trying to make a sale.

Is this a good filter for the tank?

This would provide oxygen for the tank correct?

That is a good filter, and I think the bubbler will oxygenate the tank, but in my opinion the flashy colored lights would be distracting and annoying. But you can do whatever you want, it's your tank.

I'm probably going to put plastic plants around it and I'm doing it in the colours of the tank. So probably blue or white.

The light bulbs I have I let them run in the tank overnight and throughout the day a bit yesturday and the water is heated at 78-80 degrees.

If you use fake plants with bettas, use silk so it doesn't tear their fins. Also, you should still turn the light off at night so he can get some sleep.

He isn't in the tank yet, I kept it on to get the water heated c:

I'm using small plastic ones until the end of this week.

Shells will dissolve in freshwater AFAIK. I never put anything that started as Saltwater into a Freshwater tank unless it's for African Cichlids as it can raise the pH.

Plus spiky shells are a BAD idea for a Betta's fins.

Cheap plastic plants have sharp edges and will tear his fins they're a very poor choice. Silk or real plants only. For now I would throw in a Java fern or a moss ball.

If the water is too cold the Betta will starve to death. They stop eating if they're too cold.

Make sure you have Prime to condition the water and always use it before you add any new water. Test your water frequently since this is a new tank, daily is best ,and keep up on water changes. If he's only in a 1 gallon right now you should be doing water changes every two days.

This was my last Betta in his 10g. He had a snail, but killed anything else.
All live plants. I put the filter to one side so that there was water movement but not so much pushed him all over.

That's what I plan to do with my tank. Alright so no sharp shells.

I can't get a Java fern until in about 3/4 weeks

Sorry if they are blurry, the water is heated at 79* right now. He's been swimming around and staying under the turtle for the past 3 hours lol

All the hard edges on the shells were sanded down and rounded as well

They may still raise your pH.
But it's your tank.

I use live plants and Indian Almond Leaves

Is dried polymer clay okay to put into a fish tank? Because I wanted to make my own decor
