Here we have my beloved fish Spike. Not 100% sure what species he is, or male/female. Plz can u let me no

On his right side a bit behind his right fin he has a little lump under the scales. It isn't open, nor red or getting any bigger as far as we can tell. There is no loss in colour but a loss in appetite. He has now become quite subdued and tends to spend his time in a cubby hole in a rock rather than out swimming like usual.

The lump is on the 3rd stripe back at the bottom. There is a slight discolouration. Anyone know what it is, what species/sex he may be.

Many thanks in advance.

I have no idea, but judging from the fact that it's on the inside instead of outside, it might be bloating. Look that up and see if it looks similar. Feed him peas twice a day if it is. You might want to put him in quarantine if you have a tank for that. If it isn't that, I wouldn't know but I'm guessing it could maybe be a parasite if it isn't bloating.

Ok thank u I will look it up but wot do I do ifs it's a parasite I can put him on other tank should I do that

Some thoughts to investigate more would be:

To see if anything has been introduced to the tank recently or live food used. If anything has changed in the tank or any previous problems.

The usual water chemistry check. Mainly ph to make sure that hasn't shifted.

Can't really pick the lump too well but it looks localised? If it looks just under the scales I'd suspect a parasite (any flashing?) or a bacterial pimple. Treatment prazi/metro or try the aquarium salt. If a bacterial pimple it should keep getting larger until it bursts.

If the lump looks deeper in than perhaps constipation or some localised blockage (gravel?). Try a Epsom salt bath since not eating.

Last one I can think of is a tumour.

Thought would be to try the Epsom salt bath first. Just in case, Epsom salts are not the same as aquarium salts.

Hi mate nothing has changed as in food all live food or any new fish or any gravel or ornaments or anything like that I have put him in a hospital tank at the moment and I am just put in Epsom salts in a little for the next seven days to see how you goes

The lumps don't seem be getting any bigger him is still swimming a round and still have colour

Are you seeing any poop? What dosage level do you have it at?

To me this reads as deeper in the body or intestinal. Would that make sense as you mentioned bloat as well higher up?

No poop for 5 day and in salt for 2 days now and lump no bigger or smaller x
