Caliban's Dirted 46 Bowfront

I feel a slight sense of release you got a new filter lol. I've read through this journal a few times. Feel like I'm in the trenches fighting to get it right with you lol.

Perhaps it's because we have the exact same aquarium so I'm always interested to see what your doing with yours.

Oh and by the way congrats on the dog. Chewie looks gorgeous!

Haha me too. Wow takes a while to get through this thread a few times. Hope it's been worthwhile. Indeed, same tank same, country, same lack of awesome products and same extortionate prices ?

Thanks about Chewie he is a handful at the moment.

Hack away at the stems; they will grow back.
That Chewie looks like a ball of energy.

Cheers Fresh. I always prefer to plant the tops and discard the bottoms but this can get messy in a dirtied tank. Might see what happens to the limnophila if I discard the tops and leave the bottoms in.

Ball of energy is an understatement haha. The originally titled name not only applies to our Wookie friend but the fact that everything that is not his goes in his mouth!

Ok I jumped the gun on my 406 purchase. I was going to order it immediately after I said I hit the buy button in my post but got distracted. I saw this as a sign and after reading through some reviews I'm still not sure which one to go for.

I've had a 2213 before which I was very impressed with but my current 205 was used when I bought it so its not a very good comparison.

Thrills, you say your pro 3 uproots plants? I like that because I means the low is good and we have the same tank. Did it come with a spraybar or is that an extra purchase?

I think the pro 3 will fit straight on to my inline atomiser 16/22mm and do the tubes fit snug in to the juwel cut out?

Thanks

Yup. Uproots without mercy which is why I am concerned slightly because your fluval flow is greater than my pro 3. But we have the same tank lol. I posted a pic with the Alternanthera, and it shows some of the plants uprooted.

Pro 3 came with media and spray bar/intake. If you need it I can post or pm the amazon link.

Haha well I was reading last night and after 5 minutes of subconsciously hearing him chewing something I decided to check. No more iPhone lightning cable :(

On the fish note. Still no water change on this tank. Coming up to 3weeks now. The fish police will be around soon and I'll get done for neglect. Saturday I promise. TDS has risen but plants (although fending off BGA) are still growing. The ludwigia stem in there is a beast. The stem is so thick and the stem roots are ridiculous. Be interesting to see the actual root system.

Limnophila is half way across the surface. Flow is stifled and I have biofilm building up around the floating limno. Fish seem OK.

3 weeks no water change. BGA is still there. Easycarbo has seen off most of the BBA. Lots of algae on glass. But plants remain healthy and growing rampant.

Doing a partial water change now.

Just BBA. The other algaes are green spot (glass only) and green dust on the glass. Just waiting for my bday so I can upgrade my filter then I'll be back on track.

So instead of waiting for my birthday I just waited until payday and bought this little beauty.

https://www.jbl.de/?lang=en&mod=products&func=detail&id=4348

This fits nicely in to the juwel vision 180 cabinet, comes with a spray bar, has standard size hose connectors, has mid range flow output between the fluval and ehiem, looks good, is easy to prime and clean and was £40 cheaper which means I could get it on next day delivery.

Majorly excited right now.??

Congrats on the new water toy, err, equipment. Keep up posted on its performance and ease of use.

My hubbie just ordered a $400 microscope. He's a nerd and will spend hours looking at everything with it. When I pointed out that now I should get to blow $400, he offered to pull together the online purchase info for my tank over the past few months... Lol.
