That's what I thought what would be the ideal ph number.

I seen API has proper ph8.2 that should work. And I was also reading that sea salt would be good to add just not sure how much or if I should add this to it or not I will be setting this tank up next Sunday when we get home from vacation.

I wouldn't do either. If you haven't set it up yet, you could use crushed corral for a substrate, or maybe add to the substrate you're using. These products will get you into a vicious cycle of chasing your pH. I'd just leave it.

Ok the fish should be ok with the ph just try to raise it naturally

Ok I seen my lfs has aquarium crushed coral gravel that should work I am using sand but could mix a bag of this to the sand too

They don't need any salt I read both ways use or don't use people are like 50/50

No salts. At least not for pH. If you were to add it, it would be for kH and gH, but there's no need to chase that rabbit. :)

If you're using that, I wouldn't worry about the crushed corral unless you just want to.

Ok that's what I was thinking once I read what it does. Thanks again for all your advice.

You bet. Take it slow and have fun. You'll get a lot of feedback on these forums. Look for what is consistent and do research on that. Lots of extreme opinions in the world of aquariums. You should put up a "build thread" so we can watch it go up. Good luck!

So fishking..you disagree with me...but you have a fish that will reach 10 inches in a sentence then in the next sentence talk about a 4 inch fish hmmm maybe look up how big venustus get...then look up how big julichromis get...i will take hands on experience any day over ur silly *** internet blogs...really...for every..fishlore site....or any other site you find ur information from...i will give you 2 sites to say the opposite...so go head and tell me about these great sites and how trusted they are and everything else...then i will show you real video of the truth...fishking...my question is how many 6 to 8 inch frontosas can be in a 125 gallon and tell me what all ur internet sites say about the male and female ratio..plus anything else you think i should know...this should not be a problem for you and all ur internet power

What is wrong with you? First, I didn't pull this directly off of any random website, though the same info might be found on a website. Second, are you suggesting that researching information online is ill-advised? People are told to research all the time, and that's what I encouraged. I don't know you from Adam, but you're out of line. You have no business addressing me or anyone else that way.

Well please just advise me of how many minbemwe frontosas can go in a 125 gallon with a average size of 6 inches then..you know so much about african cichlids....use all ur knowledge...

You telling people to put a ten inch fish with a 4 inch fish...but not to mix different lakes together...

Never kept frontosas. Never had the right tank. The research I have done would suggest a 125 is, at best, bare min for keeping them. Now, are you always such a d-bag?
