Hey guys I've got a huge snail problem in the Ada, I swear I'm getting thousands more each day [emoji23] I tried to make a snail trap and loaded it up with zucchini but all I managed to catch was my cherry shrimp [emoji17] is there any snail removal chemicals I can use that won't harm shrimp? Or any suggestions on a better snail trap?

Question 2, my hygro's growing fairly tall and I want it as short and bushy as possible. Does anyone know how to trim them to make them short and bushy? I've heard you can be pretty ruthless with them?

Also does anyone know where to get 1-2litre measuring containers with lids?

On the first perhaps small loaches but not sure with shrimp.

On the hygro, I pinch the top shoot, let it re-shoot as side branches and then pinch those to get more off-shoots.

Use assassin snails they will help and then add a few predators that like to eat snails. i know pea puffers supposedly work great and stay small

Most hygro species can be cut above any node.. As for staying compact an bushy the only way to stay on top of the trimming and occasionally replacing old growth with new tops and trimming some more

Thanks guys! That's the hygro sorted!

I'd be worried about the shrimp with loach's and I can't get assassin snails here due to QT laws :(

I think I'll be fighting a long term battle with the snails lol

I had a problem a year or two ago. Lettuce/Blanched Kale leaf.

Here is a pic of my babies.

Just keep removing them as they show up to feast.

This is how I move them from my main tank over to my nursery tank.

Thanks T I'll have to set up a feast for them to munch on and then get the tongs out haha ;)

I wouldn't mind if my snails looked like those ones! Pond snails are just so dam ugly lol

At feeding time just net them up. If all fails, remove the shrimp and bleach the tank (remove plants)

Can't use bleach unfortunately, I'd have to replace my substrate and redo my entire scape. Would be a nightmare lol I guess I'll just have to get the sleeves wet and do it the old fashioned way!

Sorry bad idea. I did the same this evening. It was hard work, and a LOT of rinsing!

The goodies are attached to a glass weight with a fishing line. So I can pick it up a bit and put the net underneath to catch any smart enough to drop off.

Are you glut dosing? Or CO2?

Both should help remove them but slow.

No glut just co2 :) I've noticed they all died in the 60g but they seem to thrive in this tank. However maybe they got eaten in the 60? Not sure.

I'll try pushing the co2 abit more as well as T's advice and see how I go ;) thanks dela

Cucumber! Always worked for me when I had tropical as they would go to eat it and when there were a few on there you could easily remove it as it would float!

What's do you mean qt laws just curious

What did you put in the snail trap?

I used cucumber but it didn't work very well. However I've got it in there tonight and I can already see a few snails in it and a few more heading for it so hopefully by morning I'll have a fair few trapped [emoji106]
