I run a 5 stage RO/DI...when I take a TDS reading in my holding can its 000ppm. Then I move the water to my mixing can and just by dumping it in there TDS jumped to 082ppm. Now i've mixed water in there before and there was some salt residue on the sides of the can when I dumped the fresh water...

I will be switching 2 of my 3 175's to 400's. What kind of acclimation do I need to go through...or do I? Current setup is 3 175's over a 120gal mixed reef...I will be replacing my outer 175's with the 400's. I'm gonna keep my SPS to the outsides and softies in the center. Thanks, Rich

Actually the skimmer was adjusted high but i've been using it like that since I bought it back in March. I've since lowered it but will lower it even more til I get dark skimmate again. Its a CPR... it came with my CPR Aquafuge Pro. Its powered by a tiny Rio 600. Thanks, Rich

Lately my skimmer has been skimming twice as fast as usual, the cup fills twice a day now. The skimmate is now mostly clear with a little tan color, and does not smell that bad. What would cause this? Does this usually happen from time to time? Or is my water just that clean 8O LOL Thanks, Rich

Yes, you dont want to use it right after its mixed. You want to wait at least a few hours for it to settle, I typically let it sit over night. Leaving it three days should be ok, but I hear it looses its potentcy after 5 days. Rich

If you have a protein skimmer that will help pull alot of crud out. Try doing 20-30% water changes and vacuuming your LR and substrate. I wouldnt add any chems to your water. JMO Thanks, Rich

I also was having problems getting my Ca. up. Then Mg. was brought to my attention so I dosed with ESV Mg. it helped but was still under the 1300ppm mark. So I used Kent Tech M which was very weak :x , then I seen something about using epsom salt. Worked like a charm and for only $.99 a box...
