My HOB can do 100 gallons an hour, and the sponge filter is quite big, bigger than my goldfish. That's about the best I can describe it?

Betta fish need a lid so I would not recommend that scape for a betta.

I don't know. All the gouramis I have get along fine. I've had 5 in a 40 gallon before. Maybe I'm just lucky :) Definitely more zebra danios.

I have a lyretail Molly and I know that their tails can develop differently . Is the dalmatian a female?

I'd be careful with shrimp and gouramis. They kinda have a reputation with eating them as a snack :) Mollies tend to breed like crazy. Also dalmatian mollies don't stay white and black most of the time. I have before and after pictures of my dalmatian who used to be white and turned solid black...

Oh ok. I'm the person who told you it was a platy. It's odd that the 3 died though. I've never had a molly or platy die before.. maybe I just have good conditions for them :)
