I've been breeding my pair for almost a year and you definetely got a male and female pair, the girl has a rounder body style and a plump colorful belly, the male is a slimmer body style and a pointy dorsal fin, coloration can change but body size and shape don't lie, you have a good pair :)...

I've read both ways are possible, my male has no spots on his caudal fin but I've heard they can. And Pax, my pair spawned once and ate the eggs, second time about 100 babies were swimming, only 5 of those are left, they are about an inch and a half long now, and the third spawn has 12 left...

As far as I know Snakeheads are banned in the U.S. I know for sure they can't be sold legally in the pet trade. You might want to check on the legalities before you try to acquire one.
