I rinse my sponge about every 2 weeks. As mentioned above please ensure you are NOT rinsing in tap water. I rinse mine in a bucket of the water from the tanks water change.

I would try to lower the temp a bit. Also add the air stone.

I would agree a lighting upgrade would be needed. You could try various types of anubias or java fern

Anubias and Java fern always a good choice.

I have both Giant and regular Danios. Since they are a schooling fish the key is to keep them in groups of six or more to reduce any agressive behavior.

What type of filter is running in your tank??

Selvan777, you got some very good advice. I second everything said. There is no reason to adjust your PH for the average hobbyist.

I would also give cherry barbs a look.

I have a 55 with a GT. One of my all time favorite fish. Filtration is two Emperor 280s.
