    Post your planted tanks!

Baby tears needs more CO2 than parvula. Was it definitely parvula you had? I've grown it in non CO2 tanks, Eleo mini needs CO2. Try sagittaria subulata if your looking for a grass like plant, if you keep plucking out the longer stems it stays short.

Eleocharis parvula would be a good foreground plant or cryptocoryne parva

    Water change?! Help!

Must have been something in the water, it's usually the most obvious thing that does it. I would add some carbon into the filter incase there was something in the water, some Prime and Stability. Prime can also detoxify ammonia for 24 hours to give you a break.

You will notice far more growth with the roots exposed, I actually think it looks more natural when grown on something.

You can get away with it for a while, but eventually if the rhizomes are covered they rot. http://www.tropica.com/en/plants/plant-articles/microsorum.aspx

If that's Java fern along the back of the tank you can't plant it, Java fern has to be attached to wood or rock, or the roots just rot.

Help me decide which ciclids go best together

Don't think the previous posts writers had actually read your question. That list is 99% African Cichlids, buffer may be required depending on your tap water ph. Stocking will depend on your filtration, though it's a good sized tank. A quick look at the list shows only the Jaguar is Central...

    Dwarf Cichlids!

Formaldehyde is used in many fish treatments, fresh and marine - fantastic for brooklynella in Clowns. I'd treat white spot on apisto's with Seachem Paraguard.
