When u do that u must have where ur siphon to lower then the water level for gravity to so its thing. On my vac I put a pvc valve so I hold it over the tank and suck once water fills it I shut off valve and the place on bucket then open valve.
I like the idea of two filters over one so that if one were to fail you don't have to worry as much. Also its nice when cleaning the filter you can do alternating cleaning and worry about killing you bb.
I agree with ejar on that I first noticed ich on. A black skirted tetra looked like it was rolled in salt. A picture of what ur describing would be very helpful .
I had a ich brake out in my 60 gallon. Treated with ich attack worked well and is organic to no harm to fish or plants. Did turn water a murky brown. Also add some aquarium salt if fiah will handle and raising temp on tank every hr a few deg to max out at 86 ? But check Google or hear. This...
You could add foam instead of there cartrige. Also I have a mainland bio wheel filter that has carbon in it just make a small cut to remove it then run it'll its falling apart .
Well I don't run any carbon unless I'm removing meds or a dye from my tanks. With weekly water changes so I don't get odors from the tanks. As for changing filter media dont do it unless its falling apart . Just rinse in old tank water when doing water change to clean.
That really only if u do a fish cycle. That really why fishless is so much better as ur building lots bb so u tank and filter can handle full load once ur cycle is compleate.
I would say yes to as to keep any stress down. I just run a small hob filter on my main tank that can be transform to qt tank any time and is cycle from main thank after any treat ment its cleans then replaced in main tank for next time. Don't know about the ph. What treatment u using?
