    Dirt Cheap Filter Media

I would like some input on where you can find the cheapest (marineland) filter media, and other tank supplies on the web. I am officially done with buying anything but fish from a retail store due to me saving over 60% of the price when ordering a marineland 330 online.

Converted from 30gal to 55gal Help!!!!!

ammonia hides in the gravel where it is most concentrated. If you can siphon the water from around the gravel, without (like you said) disturbing it too much, it will decrease the ammonia ALOT faster, without damaging the cycle.

    whitish water

well.... I said I think I am causing it to cycle slower.... I dont think a "blackout" would help, only beacuse thew whitish color has been around for about 6 days. If it was algae, it would have bloomed, or gotten worse by now.

    prob with ammo-chips

the cloudiness appeared days after I had cleaned my tank... actually a full week to be correct. I think that It has something to do with too many chips added, causeing the n cycle to be sort of "haulted" at one point. Ammonia is Oppm, Nitrites are high, as well as nitrates. Well see what...

    whitish water

the cloudiness is'nt from the faucet, and nothing added to filter has done it either. A bloom may be the cause, It is about 3-4 weeks cycled, but due to ammo chips in my filters, I think that I have been slowing down the completion of the cycle.

what "machineries" do you really need?

im new to saltwater, and I am wondering what you really need. There are so many different type of things out there, trickles, sumps, skimmers, canisters, and reguler filters. Which combination is really needed, and which may be a waste of money?[color=#0024ff]

    prob with ammo-chips

Just wanted to share..... I recently set up a new 20 gallon tank about a month ago... i currently have about 7 small fish in it, and a whitish cloudy tint to the water has been bugging me for a few days now. I think that the ammo chips that i am using (too much) is restricting the N cycle from...

    convict cichlids #2

you know that some chichlids can actually live in lakes and ponds? I have a friend who released overgrown oscars into lakes, and we saw him a few years later, alive and kicking. That may not be relevant to your situation, just thought I would share

    How long do PC's last?

Look at the ends of the bulbs, if it looks liek you held a lighter up to the glass , then it is close to changing time. I dont know if it is true or not, but I have been told that it is a sign of the gases getting old, and they start overheating until the bulb blows out.

How did you solve your algae problem?

The only thing that I hate about getting snails, is even if they are in there for only one day, they will lay so many freakin babies its not funny. Then yo have them climbing all over your walls. Good treats for chichlids though...lol
