My stepdad has two cichlid-exclusive tanks, a 55 and a 125. Let me tell you, I have never seen more entertaining tanks. There are about half a dozen fish in the 125 that have their own names, territories, and weird quirks. Talk about personality. Plus, think about all the color they would bring...

So after using Amquel in my tanks a handful of times, I'm getting really tired of the stink it gives off (see also, my whole house stinks on the days following water change day) Is it just the ingredients that break down the chlorine, etc, or are there less stinky alternatives?

I've got a 125 in need of some more leafy decor. All of the major LFS in my area are charging an arm and a leg for theirs! Since this tank is so tall, the taller the plant, the better. I'll take pretty much any offer though, as long as you'd be willing to ship. I'm located in Erie, Pa. Thanks!

So I checked on her today, and the fin is almost completely gone. The area around it is swollen and red, and the fin itself (what's left of it) is frayed and looking really terrible... What do I do??

No, it's not so much infected then (yet), but the redness is starting to spread to her fin, which is becoming really clamped, and sticking out straight...

That's what I'm hoping for. I've been checking up fairly constantly since I noticed it, and it's only seeming to grow larger. What does an infected "wound" (?) look like?

One of my pregnant female Platies' fins has become paralyzed. The area where her fin meets her body is red, almost like a bruise. I just picked up this bunch two days ago. She is eating like a horse, and is swimming fine... normal: "bruised" (?) side:

I just picked up a 125G tank, and with it came a whole heap of plants and driftwood. My question is, without a dishwasher or a gumbo pot the size of Manhattan, how do I clean all the gunk off of it before it goes in?
