I just picked up a 125G tank, and with it came a whole heap of plants and driftwood. My question is, without a dishwasher or a gumbo pot the size of Manhattan, how do I clean all the gunk off of it before it goes in?

For the driftwood:
1. Use a wire brush & scrapper to remove any loose stuff.
2. Rinse with high pressure water jet.
3. Optional - sterilize by:
pouring boiling water over the whole thing,
soaking in brine for a few days then rinse to remove salt, or
Bleach in 1:10 bleach - some think that you cannot remove all traces of bleach, even with dechol.

For the plants (live I presume):
1. Trim off all rotting or damaged leaves
2. Bleach in 1:10 bleach for 30 sec. - note that some plants like vals, hornwort & many weak plants will be killed by this.
3. Instead of bleach, QT the plants for 2 weeks without fish.

thats what i would do but if it was already in the tank prob nothing wrong with it.
