I have a total of 7 canister filters. Regardless of how well I cleaned (or didn't clean) the filters, when I turned them on I got that initial burst of sludge from the return. I know it's no big deal, and clears right up. But it drove me crazy. So I stole a couple of pairs of my wife's knee...
No. they are definitely brittle stars. I'm a diver from way back and I have seen them many times. Long thin bristled arms, move way faster than any other starfish. Your picture looks a lot like what I've got only these are probably less than 3 inches across.

Thanks for the advice. I did some research on possible tank mates for Angelfish, and Bala Sharks kept coming up. Some sites said you needed at least 75 gallons and others said 150. Some said you should keep at least 3 and other said at least 6. Regardless, I think I'll scrap the Bala Shark...
I recently (about a month ago) purchased a 125 gal aquarium on Craigslist. The ad said that it came with everything. I found out when I started talking to the seller that "everything" included 24 Angelfish an a huge female albino BNP. Long story short, I've given away 12 juveniles, moved my 5...
