    The Somersaulting Tetra

My Red Eyed Tetra has swimbladder disease, I believe. He began doing somersaults this AM. He's in a QT tank right now. Any suggestions on treatment? I read that trimethoprim helps, but at what dosage? Are there other treatments? Can this guy be saved? Also, the water parameters are fine. No...

I think I need to euthanize my Danio.

He has big sores on his body that aren't healing. I thought he may have furnunculosis and treated him with Tank Buddies Fungus Clear, but it's not helping. He hasn't eaten in days and he appears to be gasping. His stomach is bulging out and he's swimming with clamped fins and just appears to...

    My fish has sores!

Yeah, I guess that's a good point :) My water parameters show ammonia still at 0.5. I bet it's because it's a new QT and not cycled. Should I add some gravel from my established tank? I'm worried that if I remove too much water that the medicine will be too dilute. He's still not eating...

    My fish has sores!

I just checked the H2O parameters. Ammonia = 0.5 nitrites/ates = 0 Did a 50% H2O change. Added salt. Keeping the water about 82 degrees. He seems OK, but I think he's getting another sore on the other side. Any help appreciated, even if it's that I'm doing OK. Thanks, Michelle

    Should McDonald's be banned?

Here's an interesting article about why Vioxx was taken off the market: http://www.vioxx.com/rofecoxib/vioxx/consumer/index.jsp Apparently, they were studying the effect of vioxx on colorectal polyps and found that there was an increase in cardiovascular events. But, there were 2 other...

    My fish has sores!

Thanks for the advice Whitetiger_CJ. The sores are on the right side of his body one is by his anal fin. He has 2 that I can see. I couldn't stand seeing him in that little tiny tank, so I bought a 10-gal tank and put him in that. I got some Fungus Clear Tank Buddies and put one in. That...

    Should McDonald's be banned?

Just a quick thought about the drug company debate. My husband was on Vioxx for pain. Now he cannot take it anymore and he has serious pain daily that affects his daily life. Plus, it affects mine because the daily pain makes him such a grouch. He's tried the alternatives, but they don't...

    My fish has sores!

No, I put the Hatchetfish in a QT and treated them with malachite green. I put my Danio in a 1 gallon QT. He is not eating. Is that too small?

    My fish has sores!

I just got home and saw that one of my Danio's has sores on his body! They are surrounded by a reddned area. He's swimming around and in no apparent distress. The water parameters are as follows: Nitrates = 0 Nitrites = 0 Ammonia = 0 pH = 8.4 None of the other fish are having this problem...

    Should McDonald's be banned?

Actually, BillyZ this is true. There have been studies that show that marijuana is not 'physically' addictive. I don't know them offhand, but would be willing to do the research and find out if you want to know. When I was in my psych class when I was going to nursing school we talked about...

    Should McDonald's be banned?

I would like to see antilitigation bills for tobacco companies for the same reason. By now those who smoke should know that smoking leads to a host of illnesses. Personal responsibility. Personal responsibility. Personal responsibility. Just think if tobacco was outlawed tomorrow. Thousands...

    Should McDonald's be banned?

My husband had a good idea. Whoever loses a lawsuit should have to pay the costs incurred for BOTH sides. Would probably reduce the amount of lawsuits. Michelle

    Cories

Hi! Yep, Hatchets and Tetras definately like soft acidic water. I bought them before I researched about them. I don't want to do that again. They are doing pretty well, though. They just wander around the tank seemingly happy. My Hatchets had an outbreak of ich, but I was able to get that...
