    Otocinculus with eye infection?

Hi all, One of my two otos looks like they might have an eye infection. I can't see the right eye and there appears to be some fluff around it like some bacterial growth. There is one other oto in the tank and the rest of the inhabitants are shrimp. What could be wrong with it? I'm going to do...

What to stock in a 5.5 gallon shrimp tank

They can simply eat the algae in your tank. I sometimes feed mine hakari shrimp pellets.

What to stock in a 5.5 gallon shrimp tank

I started with 10 in a tank just less than double the size and they're breeding like crazy. I'd say that's a good number to start off slowly. I even had a damselfly nymph who could have eaten up to three I couldn't locate. My java moss is also flourishing and gradually taking over the entire tank.

    Shrimp tank size opinions

Mine are very happy in a 10g tank and there is always a pregnant shrimp or two as well as a shell every so often at the bottom of the tank.

    RCS cross breeding concerns

Hi guys, I was considering getting some Chameleon shrimp, Darwin Red Nosed shrimp and Darwin Algae Eating shrimp for my RCS tank. I was just concerned if there were any cross breeding possibilities. My interbreeding chart does not specify these particular species. Any light shed on this...

    Plants not growing well underwater

I am using LEDs as well as natural light during the day (it's right next to a window). 20G tank. No fertilisers. I was worried if some contained copper because I am housing Red Cherry Shrimp. I have carbon in my filter.

    Plants not growing well underwater

Ah I see Old Scales, thanks for the explanation I was confused between the different of being submerged and immersed.

    Plants not growing well underwater

The ones in the shop were under water as well. Apart from different substrate and possibly water temperature, there is practically no difference to how they were growing.

    Plants not growing well underwater

I bought these plants same time I set the tank up. Not long after I put them in, one of them in particular all the leaves rotted off. The other one is not looking particularly favourable either. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is this just a normal cycle. They're growing great out of...

    Underwater insect ID

Update: the same spider and another smaller one tool up residence once again in the bucket. I've since removed them again but it is seemingly the allure of small bugs hovering the surface which they can't keep away from. Saw a couple wings floating on the surface. As for the other creatures...

    Underwater insect ID

Indeed so. It's been quite an interesting experience unintentionally having interactions with so many different creatures on this venture. I had just been counting them every time I look at them and I had only seen 5 for about a week until the 6th (a very small one) popped up. Just hoping the...

    Underwater insect ID

Update: the spider was looking like he overslept his stay and there weren't too many bugs around so I took him out. He looked exhausted and slowly crawled under a pot and rolled up into a ball. I hope this is a better picture to see the bottom of the bucket completely covered in these things.

    Underwater insect ID

Thanks for the link! I have seen a nematode or two around. Good to see they are also shrimp food! I have counted another shrimp, 6/10 have been accounted for.
