    Hello all.

Hi, nice to meet you! I'm fairly new to this site too, and I've found almost everyone to be very friendly and helpful :)

Why are these fish soo unpopular?

I think they're stunning and I'd love one, but I've never actually seen them in shops, and the common idea about their lifespans put me off as well. After reading what CatoeSc wrote though I might have to do some more widespread searching!

What are good coldwater fish for a species only tank ?

Weather loaches are lovely, but I think they need a slightly bigger tank :( A paradise fish could be put in coldwater 10G though, on it's own. A shoal of danios, GCMM's, WCMM's or a borneo sucker (although they need a powerhead) could also go in there :) Some shops also do platys, guppies and...

I know that they're dyed, not sure I'd want to know how! I know it's cruel and I know they suffer and have a shortened lifespan because of it, it's ridiculous.

Aww that's adorable! I have a dalmatian fish, but I don't know if she's platy or molly o.O I bought her as a platy, but I've had people say she's a molly, then others say she's a platy? I think she might be a hybrid between the two because she doesn't look 100% like either, but has traces of...

What Made You Want A Freshwater Aquarium?

I started off when my partner bought me an aquarium with two goldfish as a present not long after my 18th birthday :) I loved my goldfish and wanted more fish, and my dad and my mother in law (who have both kept tropical aquariums for years) both suggested I got another tank with a heater, and I...

The loach's 29 gallon tank journal

huizheng1988 is right. I'm not sure about gudgeons, but my experience is that catfish get pretty lazy, mine expect their food to be dropped in front of their faces, they don't bother eating if it's not right in front of them. terrible scavengers haha!

Anyone else's cat drink the tank water?

Our cats drink the tank water too, luckily they don't bother with the fish, they just love the water for some reason :P They like to sleep on the lid too...

I thought that too! That's probably why I like him so much, I'd love a few discus' but I'm not confident spending that sort of money on a fish yet, I've only had my tank a matter of months so I don't want to risk it yet. When the severum's moved tanks I might need to get him a friend or two...

And the severum will obviously have to change tanks eventually too, completely forgot about him! My dad made me buy the severum cause he likes them so much, he failed to tell me it'd get like a dinner plate!

Ahah thank you! :) It's around 20G I believe. When the humbug cat and the plec grow up a bit (they're tiny babies at the moment, bless them) they'll be going in a 6ft tank me and my mother in law are purchasing to share, but all the other fish will probably stay in there, they seem happy :)
