possible fungus infection or fin rot?

Hi guys Could you tell me what this is? I've just noticed a white cotton wool like patch on one of my platies. We got him from pets at home and he's never been right. He doesn't generally swim round the tank, just hovers in one place. His tail isn't as full as my other playts either and he's...

    water changes. info needed, please.

His mebbid Thanks for the concern regarding my platies. I'll be honest with you I had no idea about tank size/fish when I got them. I was told by pets at home that these fish would be fine in such a tank as mine. I've since found out they won't be :( I am looking at 55lt on a second hand...

I have a local aquatic shop which I'm fairly sure in saw stocked prime...I'll have to investigate. I do wc every other day. Would you suggest doing a wc every day? And how much water should I change, is 25% ok? Thanks

    newbie...completely out of her depth!

Thank you for the replies :-) so I'm going to be going for the 52lt. Bigger is better. I would like to be able to sustain plants though, I've read the platies enjoy a nibble and like to hid in the foliage. What type of light would I need, don't want any fancy plants just something suitable for...

    which is the better tank?

I have the wrong size tank for my 2 platies. I've measured my space and going by the minimum standard I think a 40lt would be OK for them? Far better than they are in now. I've found these with in my price range but not sure which is the better one...

His all I have a 19lt tank, with 2 variatus platies in it (yes I know this tank isn't big enough, stupid pets@home gave wrong info). Hi there I'm a complete novice to own fish. If I'm honest I thought I could just buy a tank and stick in a goldfish or 2! Apparently not. OK so here's the story. I've wanted a aquarium for a while but I've never had the best of luck with fish, probably because of the above reason :-( anyway I...
