    Bala's trying to breed?

I have a pair of maybe 3" balas in my 90 long, along with my loaches and a few small community fishies. I've noticed that when I crush the mts's for the loaches and bala's to feast upon, (the bala's love them too), they start a mating looking dance thing. I'm sure they are juveniles still, since...

    mini cycle

Well, I made it thru a pretty good ice storm, and even a 2 day power outage without losing any fish surprisingly enough. My 90 acrylic held temp for an amazing 20 hours (blanketed) before dropping significantly. It never dropped below 73 though. My small 10 got down to 68, and with frequent warm...

    high nitrates

Thanks guys, learned a good lesson here. I use a master test kit, it is fairly new, and i use it regularly. I do have my well water tested regularly, as I work in a nutritional lab with access to micro as well as other typical tests. My ph levels are high (8.4) but very stable. Unfortunately my...

    loach not eating snails

Yes, but they will only eat them that way, they still won't suck them out like they do the pond snails. Maybe when they get a little bigger.

    Helper fish for small tank

Otos are great LITTLE fish, I have 3. They do not chase other fish, and they do not get bigger than 2 inches best I can tell, and they do an awesome job of cleaning algae. Common Plecos get huge on the other hand. 12" +. My 90 is acrylic, and you'll find that they make all sorts of algae...

    loach not eating snails

A little off the original thread track, but OMG I HAVE CORY KITTIES!!!! I found more eggs Christmas eve during my pwc, so I put them in a little 1/2 gallon unused old beta tank with a tiny 25w heater. It's maintaining a temp of exactly 78 deg. After 4 days I have several teeny weeny kitties. I'm...

    high nitrates

I'm having trouble with high nitrates and would like to know if there is a product that can chemically lower them. Living on the farm I have well water, and with all the wet weather we have had my tap water is coming out 60 plus on the no3 test. I can't really afford to do my pwc with bottled...

    walmart frogs

So lets see if I got this right - albinos are not dwarf even if it says dwarf, a dwarf will be grayish. If I can find dwarfs they would be ok with the fish I have? I definately don't want an ACF, they get way to big for me. I have a 90 but I love my loaches to much to lose them to a frog!! :)...

    walmart frogs

I thought about adding a frog or two to the 10g planted. It currently has 4 albino cory, 3 red eye tetra, 1 small molly and 20,000 snails. 40% pwc weekly with avg readings of 0 amonia 0 no2 and 20ish no3. Will this work and also are these tiny albino frogs at walmart true dwarfs or will they get...

    loach not eating snails

Thanks, I'll try crushing a few and see if that lures them to eating them. I did notice their shells were awfully thick. What about snails eating eggs? As far as the corys go, the are albino and I have no idea why they are laying eggs. Haven't done a darn thing different!! Think maybe I'll set...

    loach not eating snails

Wow, I haven't posted in forever! Got a question about clown loaches and snails. My daughter threw a few mts from the 10g planted into my 90 loach tank for a snack, but they aren't eating them. The 5 loaches are about 4" now. Now there are a bunch of baby mts. I keep pulling them out as I see...

    Clown Loaches Growth Rate

Hey Courtnee, I've had my 5 cl's for about 6 months now. They were about 1.5 to 2 inches when I got them, and they are now all between the 2-3 inch range. I feed them a varied diet 2x a day, and they love banana pieces and zuccini slices, also. I've been told they will grow pretty fast the first...
