Adding Bolivian Rams to the family

My Bolivians are just full of personality. I have 5 juvies right now (waiting on a pair to form) and they really do love to show off. They do peck at each other, but other than that they are great community fish. My older Bolivian does get cranky from time to time, but he's really harmless...

Adding Bolivian Rams to the family

If you can get a proven pair and clear up some room in the 20g, I think the rams would work. If you can make it happen you'll not regret getting them, they're a great fish to keep.

    dwarf gourami

My dwarf gouarmi can be a total butt-head to his tanks mates. I, personally, think it depends on the individual fish.

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

If you dig through these links, you might be able to find that information: Lighting an Aquarium with PAR instead of Watts LED Lighting Compendium The second link will point you towards lighting information about Finnex as well.

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

You do not need to remove the glass top. I sit mine directly on the top so that I get better light at the substrate, but you can also use the provided legs to sit it above the tank. That said, the glass top will prevent you from tightening down the legs on one side of the aquarium, but it's...

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

I've heard both sides of the excel/algae argument so I played it safe with the Fugeray. There are times I wish I had gone with the Ray2 just to see though. :)

Advice on Dry Ferts, maybe LED Lighting?

The Ray2 is going to give you too much light for a non-c02 tank. Not sure excel would help keep the algae at bay. Try this fixture: Amazon.com: Finnex FugeRay Aquarium LED Light Plus Moonlights, 30-Inch: Pet Supplies I can't imagine paying marineland prices when better options can be had for...

    Fluval C4 or Aquaclear 70

Thanks for the feedback everyone, Fluval C4 it is. On a side note, I can't imagine buying aquarium hardware anywhere but Amazon. Their prices are amazing.

    Fluval C4 or Aquaclear 70

I currently have an aquaclear 30 on my 29 gallon tank. Right now I only have 3 fish so I'm not too worried, but I definitely want to upgrade within the next 2 weeks. As you can guess from the title, I'm trying to decide between the fluval and the aquaclear. On Amazon, the fluval is $45.57 and...

Blue rams that arrived very cold

I'd slowly raise the temp to 82. If they're in a quarantine tank then aquarium salt definitely wouldn't hurt. I'd then start offering food and observing. If they're still flashing in a couple of days then you start with the meds. I'd try to keep things as "natural" as possible until they settle...

    Help sexing Bolivian ram

Well then, it's a good thing we went with a gender neutral name (Geist). I'd love for someone else to jump and confirm because I'm working with a breeder to find a suitable mate for this lovely young lady. Thank you, Fishanatic!

    Help sexing Bolivian ram

I know these pictures aren't the best, but does anyone have thoughts on the sex of this guy (gal)? I have noticed that two of his (her) black dorsal fin spikes are longer than the others, but I'd love some feedback.

    New tank

Are you familiar with rams? Bolivian ram (hardier, less fragile than german blue rams): Cichlid Profiles German blue rams (possibly fragile): German Blue Ram - Mikrogeophagus ramirezi You could then look into the various tetras/rasboras/danios.
