Are QTing? if so then the clowns should have ben QT for 3-4 weeks and then added to the display. Then Id wait at least another 3-4 weeks if not more before you add the Cardinal that will allow him the proper (recommended) QT period as well as allow for you bacteria (in the display) to catch up...

Should be fine. I removed mine after my ammonia had peeked and when it reached about .10 ppm then I supplemented my tank with meaty foods for the bacteria to munch on until my fish came out of the QT process. Andrew

Very possible and the reason I asked, the other shrimp may have been bothering the other during the molt, which over stressed him leading to a "bad molt". Do you do any tests for iodine in your system? Too much Iodine can cause more problems and increase some of the same problems that low...

What are your water parameters? First thing that comes to mind maybe your iodine is too low? Is there anything in the tank that may have picked on them? What else is in their? Were the shrimp getting along together? NEED MORE INFO???? Andrew
