OK I'll try to leave the daylight lamp off fully for the next week or so and just use the actinic bulb. Do you think this will eliminate the green hair algea?
The fixture has 2 bulbs one is a 24 watt 10,000K daylight lamp and the other is an actinic lamp. Would it be ok to leave only the actinic lamp on for 13 hours a day?
Hi all,
I have a horrible green hair algea problem in my freshwater tank. I've had my fully cycled tank for about 5 months now and about 1 and a half months ago, the tank started growing green hair algea. It got to the point where the tank was pretty much covered in the stuff. About 2 weeks ago...
Hey all,
I have a 29 gallon tank stocked with
- 6 glofish
- 6 neons
- 4 Cory catfish
- 3 Oto's
- 1 dwarf gourami
My friend has a male betta that she needs to get rid of and I'd like to take it. I just wanna make sure it would be ok to put him in this tank with the other fish.
Thanks for...
Haha, so maybe my fish enjoy doing this. Even the catfish were getting in on the action I noticed. Trying their hardest to make it past the the current. maybe I'll give it a few days and see if it looks like they're getting stressed from it before I do anything.
Pics will be coming soon. Got fish in the tank yesterday so keeping the light off until later. I'll take some video and pics. Btw...glofish look awesome under actinic and LED lighting!! They even have neon blue glofish now!
I know the 2 liter bottle method works, I tried it out but I just don't like the way it looks. I'm gonna give the sponge a shot and see how it works out. I'm sure the fish would be fine without it, but maybe it'll make things a bit more enjoyable for them.
Thanks, We know that the filter is adjustable, but the difference in adjustment is very minimal. My filter is already at the lower setting and still has a very strong flow. Like Libraygirl said, my plant is blowing in the current. I'm just wondering if the sponge idea I mention above would be OK...
Hey all,
Finally got some fish in my tank! While they all seem to be doing ok, the current of my filters (I have one on each side of a 29 gallon tank, Aquaclear 50 & Aquean 30) seem to be making it difficult for the neon tetras to swim. They struggle to swim against the current and when they...
Glad you're done cycling too!! It def feels rewarding to have been patient enough to complete the cycle. Can't wait to get fish in the tank later tonight or tomorrow! Congrats!
