    Yeah, kinda............they have bone formations that help them to scrape away at thier chosen foods. Plecs are NOTORIOUS for feeding on week or dying/dead fishies. Especially when they get larger and require greater amounts of protien in thier diet. MOST Plecs after reaching more than 8"...

    I agree with EC..... I have bought fish from the larger chain stores b4 also. Just QT them and see what happens. To me it would be worth the risk. Specially for something that you really want that you don't see often. Pimpin :wink:

    it could be something as simple as hormones. There are many fish that emit a growth reduction enzyme when in the company of members of thier own species. This is HIGHLY COMMON in schooling fishies. OR it might just be the diff between sexes. There is a wealth of info on the net about these guys...
