Yeah , it would e cheaper , quicker, and easier to her rid or them all and do a deep clean and just start new with new fish.

Yeah don't worry about the ph , ph is very hard to change and doesn't do to mine is also around 8.0 for my African cichlids and they have been fine for almost 2 years

Yeah I agree with him they like groups but one thing I noticed with mine I had for a little while before retiring them ( long story ) was they don't eat as mush they don't haw a hue appetite and I have never had a pictus cat so idk hahaj
