I think he's still alive... I took a little end of a straw and tried to just knock out (gently) the piece of gravel but the snail ended up wrapping up with the gravel inside. The door isn't completely shut, but it's more shut then it was before. I think he's just getting ticked with me...

What kind of container? I don't want my snail to escape if I put him in a cup... you know? Is a tubaware or a sealed closed container okay? Or do they need that air circulation? Sorry, that seems like a stupid question...but I don't know the answer to that.. =/

Would it hurt to just leave the snail in overnight and see if he changes or adjusts over night? And if he hasn't moved to call it the end? Or would it really foul up that quickly?

As far as live plants are concerned, I find them easier to keep rather than fake. I used to love fake plants because they were so colorful and I worried about my filter being clogged with all of the plant matter. Nope. Not the case at all. I turns out real plans are easier to keep clean, easier...

I use Gravel. I, personally, already think tanks in general require a lot of maintence. I like the low maintence and easy cleansing proccess as well. Plus, I love my tank to be colorful like my fish. I've seen people use sand successfully, but it's really not my style. Plus, I have some crawlers...

I had the same problem. I always thought it was the gravel, that I didn't clean it off all the way. But it was the type of food that I was giving my fish. "Back in the day" I used flake food. Flake food is a pretty strong cause of cloudy water, because my water was cloudy with the fish flakes...
