So I finally made it through the cycle after 2 attempts and 60 days. So I'm ready to get fish tomorrow. I have a 40 Gallon tank. I have a few questions.
1- Should I do a water change even if my readings are zero?
2- Is 4 a good start for a 40 gal tank?
3- I don't add any more ammonia after...
Hey, thanks for checking. I just tested my water source and no nitrates.
So I'm on day 14 of Nitrite/Nitrate/use up the ammonia readings.I tried 3 days straight of 90% water changes and could not bring down my off the chart readings. So yesterday I tried 2 90% water changes back to back for the...
Thank's, I don't have a patience problem. I just worry if high Nitrite readings that a can't get down with single large water changes is something I have to worry about or not.
No I wait an hour or 2. I read how I'm supposed to do back to back water changes. It just doesn't make much sense to me if I emptied out most of the water. I just need to know if I need to waste water conditioner on the first change. I don't want to make any
mistakes, but I also don't want to...
Ok so I did an 80% water change yesterday and a 90% one today. And still my Nitrites are off the charts. I have been avoiding doing 2 water changes in a row but I guess I need to. My question is this, do I need to add the water conditioner on the first water change even though I am going to just...
Thanks, the nitrites and nitrates have been off the charts for 9 days, even with a 50% water change every day. I just tried a 80 to 90% water change so we will see if that helps. The ammonia does go to near zero every 24 hrs after dosing to 4-5.

Day 9 of the readings in the attached pictures. Taken every morning, followed by a 50% water change and a re dose of ammonia to 4-5.
Any opinons or advice on where I stand and what to do and watch for going forward.
Thanks.

Day 7 of off the charts Nitrite & Nitrate readings every morning. I have done a 50% water change for each of the last 7 days. Do I need to do 2 in a row or anything else? Or just wait for the readings to come down and not worry about it. Do you gradually work up to the day when you get a zero...
Idid a 30% water change but my readings are still off the charts. I know I should have done another one but I put it off until morning.
I'm using a hose to fill the tank but I turn off the filter, put the conditioner in then add the water. I wait for 30. min to turn the filter back on. Will...
Thanks, So I'll go to dosing once a da then and dose a little more to bring it up to the 4 range.
And watch for the Nitrites to high and do water changes if they are.
Do I need to worry about the Nitrate readings if they get to high and do water changes for that?
I run a line from my shower to...
Day 14 of my second attempt after failing on my last month long one.
I need advice on how the safest way to finish of this cycle. Please give me some mistakes not to do that could mess this up.
I am posting a picture of my readings taken this morning. I restarted 14 days ago after changing all...
