What's this stuff on my coral and how do I get rid of it

So the new taotronics came in today. How high does it need to be above the tank? How long should the whites stay on and same questions go for the blues and the moonlights

y is the bottom section like that. Color is lighter and some of the little tentacles are like a purple color

I would for sure not get a hermit crab. It went through three of my Mexican turbo snails within a two week period. Finally had to get him out of there, kind of sad because he was nice and big. He also had a tiny feather duster on his shell
