15%/week pwc with Tropic Marin Pro. I drip 300ml/day of each component of b-ionic separately. Ca is 400-420. Alk is around 7.9-8.2 I never dreamed that the tank would get up to this level of consumption.
I'm tired of going thru 300ml a day of b-ionic. I have 180gal with a heavy SPS population and I would feel better having a way to dose Ca and alk when I'm out of town for days at a time.
Has anyone had any experiences with the coralife calcium reactor? The price seems very reasonable as compared to other reactors on the market. Any opinions, good or bad?
What kind of iodine solution are you putting in? Is it Lugols? If it is, be very careful. That is a lot to be dosing in such a small tank. Be careful dosing anything that you don't specifically test for-- many on this site will recommend that you don't do it at all. Dusters under stress...
I went to a glass shop and had 1/4" plates cut to fit the fixture. I removed the diffuser and installed the glass so now the entire bottom of the fixture is covered in glass... no UV should be able to escape. The 14,000K bulbs are back-in and I'm acclimating so we'll see what happens. Also...
That's what I've suspected too. It does have a glass UV shield on it (it's an HQI bulb so it comes with a separate glass shield) but the ends remain uncovered. I talked to Jay at Premium Aquatics about that a few weeks ago and he suspects some UV could be leaking out of the uncovered ends. In...
It sounds like you are doing the right things so it's kind of hard to guess why your nitrates are that high. Here's a couple of things:
1) What is your bioload, what kind of fish do you have? How often and how much are you feeding them?
2) How "thin" is that layer of crushed coral? Crushed...
I keep my temp 80-81 degrees. The tank is in the basement and it's always cool down there so rising temps from the MH are not an issue. The phsical symptoms are lack of polyp extension and whitening of the coral on the branches facing up so it's obviously a reaction to these bulbs. The...
