How often should nerites be fed?

I never feed my nerites. They eat leftover food and debris and do just fine.

    New Fish?

That's probably why. I would reccomend finding a good locally owned fish store to do business with. At the Petco and Petsmart near me the fish are always in poor condition. They usually have diseases and parasites and are half-dead in the store.

    New Fish?

Where did you purchase the neons? Be careful where you buy from. My guess is they were sick right out of your fish store. Make sure they have good color & don't have ich.

    Is this a good deal?

I have yet to replace any sand, just be careful not to gravel vac any up when you clean the bottom. My cabinet is black so I used the Carb-Sea Instant Aquarium black sand which is a finely ground quartz material. This also jump-starts your cycle because the bags contain live bacteria already...

    Pearl Gourami Dead???

Gourami's can get startled easily. Considering you bought him a few days ago I'm guessing he was startled either by a person or fish in his new tank...causing him to run into the glass and bruise his head That's just my CSI from the info given :)

    Is this a good deal?

It's a great deal, new tanks in the store cost $1 per gallon when they are on sale. A cabinet can range anywhere from $100-$400 new from the store, unless you have the ability to build one yourself cheaper. A filter for a 44 gallon tank I would guesstimate would run $30-$40. So I say NICE FIND...

    Switching from Freshwater to Saltwater

Thanks for replying Joy I really appreciate your insight...starting slowly with a few questions. What is RO water? I would have to remove all my fresh-water and replace it with salt-water? How? I would have to re-cycle the whole tank? When I do water changes I can't use tap water, what do I...

    Switching from Freshwater to Saltwater

Hey Everyone. I currently have a 30 gallon freshwater tank that has been up and running for awhile. What would I need to do if I wanted to convert it to Saltwater and about how much would it cost to do so? Also, I have a couple balloon mollies, they can survive if I switch to saltwater...
