    Jedi's 12g Planted (PICTURES!)

I've been trying to find a good plant for that. I was hoping the Pelia I got would take off and that I'd be able to use it in that way but I'm finding it is a very slow grower. My tank is low-light - what would work best for ground cover that won't cost me a fortune?

    Jedi's 12g Planted (PICTURES!)

It's relatively cheap, clean, and easy to use - I'd say give it a shot if you're running a <40g tank.

    Jedi's 12g Planted (PICTURES!)

I've been using that kit since day 1 so it's hard for me to say what my progress would have been like without it. All the plants have been very healthy - especially the Java Ferns which have been reproducing like rabbits.

    Neon Tetras push out RCS!

Has anyone else put neon tetras in with red cherry shrimp and had the following happen? I primarily feed my tetras flake food and have algae wafers for my shrimp. A few days ago I noticed one of the neons poking at the wafer, biting off bits, and swimming away. The shrimp still dominated the...

"Hair" on saggitaria and brown spots on java fern (w/pics)

The brown spots are normal for java ferns. They will reproduce from those. Eventually you'll notice a leafy growth from some of them along with a long 'root' (which I believe will be the rhizome? .. Im new at this as well so bare with me.. I'm just going from what I see in my tank.)

    Java Fern help?!?

Make sure when you plant it that you're not burying the rhizome or it will decay and you'll lose it. Mine are currently in low light, buried (lightly) in eco-complete substrate, with co2, and fert dosing at water changes. They are growing rather healthy and starting to reproduce. I also...

    Easy co2 system

Hey Kygirl, I use the Red Sea CO2 kit in my 12g. It is basically a nice, clean, version of a DIY CO2 system. You use one 'refill' per month and from my experience it actually does last for an entire month. I have yet to try and make my own CO2 but you *could* if you didn't want to buy their...

    plants for a 15g?

I have a 12g low-light (15w, 6700k) In the tank I have amazon sword, java fern, petite nana, and pelia (Monosolenium Tenerum.)

    CO2 for a low-medium light planted tank

I'm running a low light, 12g, and I use a system that is more or less DIY (I bought the Red Sea CO2 bio system .. it's just looks nicer but works the same way.) I'm not sure what the actual benefit is but my plants are showing healthy growth -- most noticeable in the Amazon Sword (I swear some...

    Jedi's 12g Planted (PICTURES!)

It's the Red Sea CO2 bio kit. I was going to go DIY but I thought the 2-liter bottle was ugly so picked that up. So far, so good. I got my black background on today after a quick trip to a local art store. More plants coming tomorrow.. then I'll update pics.

    Jedi's 12g Planted (PICTURES!)

I have a couple more java ferns on the way as well as a bit more Pelia that I plan to work in and around the center piece of driftwood. I've been asking around for some smaller rocks-- figure I'll play with the design a bit. I'd like to have Red Cherry Shrimp along with some non-aggressive...

    Current Readings

This is my first tank and as much reading as I did beforehand it did not really prepare me properly for this. There appears to be a lot of misinformation out there about cycling and planted aquariums. Live and learn though. As much of a hassle some of this has been, and a burden on my...
