I'm currently cycling a 33g long, tank dimensions are 48"X12"X12". My plans for the tank are 10 glowlight danios, 10 cherry barbs, 6 peppered cory's, and and an albino bristle nose pleco.
I'm looking for a center piece fish, any one have any recommendations?
I tried one on a 5g and was disappointed. It didn't have a lot of power and developed a leak after a couple of months.

I second the Odyssea for a budget canister. I used 2 stacked Hydro 5's on the intake. Worked like a champ for 3 years before the motor went. It's basically a big bucket of sponges, there's no trays.

Whatever tray the water enters first use a 30ppm sponge filter then a 20ppm sponge filter. Don't use a water polisher like polyfill because it clogs up to quick. Fill the rest with biological media. Put your Chemi-pure, Purigen, etc on top.
I use the Cermedia balls with Fluval Biomax filling...
