    Pete's 5 Gallon Paradise

Tank is doing great. Pete seems to be doing well, he's ignoring his silk plants and the terra cotta pot at the moment. But no signs of BGA so I'm happy.

    My 5 Gallon Journal :)

Sorry to hear about the deaths from a few weeks ago, but I'm glad to hear that things are coming back nicely! I hope the tank continues to do well and I can't wait to see pics!

    Pete's 5 Gallon Paradise

The Moneywort seemed to do well, but I left the tank in the care of my lil sis for about a week and it was overrun by BGA by the time I was able to check up on it again. :( I've managed to get rid of the BGA but I had to throw out the moneywort, and I took out the coral decoration (I didn't...

    Recurring BGA

The first params I posted are from the 9th. I retested nitrate tonight, and its still below 5 ppm. So I dosed almost a capful of nitrogen tonight. I will retest the nitrate levels again tomorrow.

    Recurring BGA

15 Watts over 5 gal. hex. I think it also gets indirect sunlight during the day, but I might be able to move it to a darker corner where it wouldn't get indirect sunlight if I can find one. (Huge windows at home. . .) Thank you for your help! :)

    Recurring BGA

Finally got home from college Friday night and had a chance to look at Pete's tank. And I saw BGA. . . again. Did a PWC and got most of it out. Params on the tank are as follows: pH: 8.2 Ammonia: less than .25 (color is between 0 and .25) Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 0-5 (color is between the two) I...

    Dorm Aquarium?

I'm in college also so I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. I'm not required to completely move out during December so my situation is a bit different, (I can even stay over the summer if I pay rent and sign a summer contract). I'm technically limited to a 1.5 gal. fish tank, but I have a betta...

    Oscar tankmates

Putting them all in at the same time sounds like a good idea to me. We had started our tank with the tinfoils and a managuense and the pleco. My dad saw the oscars and decided he wanted one of those a few weeks later. We added an oscar and the managuense bullied it (so we gave the managuense...

    Oscar tankmates

I think oscar tankmates depend on the temperament of the oscar and the size of the other fish. I had an oscar a few years ago and we kept Red-tail tinfoil barbs and a pleco in the same tank and never had any problems. Our oscar was pretty docile though.

    Pete's 5 Gallon Paradise

Thanks for the link! It was nice to look at the pics of your tank again. I really like the otos. Maybe a couple of those. . . I think I'll wait to add anything until after I've added more plants. I really liked the Hornwort I saw at PetSmart, and I think they had some Cabomba. So maybe a...

    Pete's 5 Gallon Paradise

Just found this pic. from the other day. This is the color that I thought Pete was when I bought him. Boy was I surprised when he turned out to be pink. . .
