    I did something I swore I wouldn't! I started a second SW tank!

I love my 10 gallon nano tank, and spend hours just staring at all my critters and corals. That, and my 30 gallon freshwater tank were plenty to entertain and occupy me...until last week. I was browsing Craislist free section, and initially thought that there had to be a mistake when I saw...

My 5 month old (bedside) 10 gallon nano

Lets see...for set-up, I've got a 10 Gallon tank (clearly :P). -I use a marineland powerhead which gives me about 110 gph of movement. -No protein skimmer (easier to omit when the tank is as small as it is. -Odyssea 72 watt full spectrum and actinic lighting setup (found online somewhere for...

My 5 month old (bedside) 10 gallon nano

Thank you all, I love my nano set-up! I think my room-mate thinks Im a bit wonky, because she will walk past my door and Ill just be sitting watching the tank haha. Its addictive though, Landshark! I need to stop getting additions for my credit card's sake! Scottyhorse, I have a 72 watt...

    10 gallon Reef Tank Transformation

This is a beautiful set-up! How did you stack your rocks so high? did you have to glue them up?

My 5 month old (bedside) 10 gallon nano

I just want to share my tank, I'm pretty proud of it so far. I started this tank last August after finding out on this site that nano tanks were possible, I always thought a giant tank was mandatory. I wanted to start a salt tank for the challenge, and for the beauty of the colour and texture...

    Hitch-hiker id!

I'm just getting the rest of new corals settled, but i noticed this on a rock. I plan to investigate in a bit, but if anyone passing through has insight, it would save me a few minutes! He's got a white base, brown tentacles

Starting a tank with components from a mature tank...would it still cycle?

Im thinking it will definitely speed things up...thinking maybe i can add a fish right away if i go this route...maybe try and scramble to find a fish/invert sitter for a week or 2 just to make sure?

Starting a tank with components from a mature tank...would it still cycle?

I live in a rural area, and have so far only been able to get my hands on about 4 lbs of live rock for my 10 gallon nano tank. None of my lfs' have been able to get more live rock in due to minimum purchase amounts from dealers being above their stocking abilities. I was just contacted by a...

First time SW AND nano reef

I have the main hardware laying around from some past setups, the only thing im still missing is a light suitable for a SW set-up. If I started cycling, would the live rock need a light fixture up to stay alive? It would make a good christmas gift to ask santa for, but if I have to wait all the...

First time SW AND nano reef

Also, I have an old Penguin 150 (with the biowheel). I talked to a guy at my lfs and he said that for something as small as a 10G you can go without a protein skimmer as long as you have some sort of filtration in addition to the live rock...does anyone disagree? (just to state, i am amazing at...

First time SW AND nano reef

I have definitely decided to either go for a 20G, or to just put 1 fish in my 10G. The more I think about it, the more I realize that just having a saltwater tank will be challenge enough, it would suck for my first time to be a bad experience and kill my stock! Thanks all for the advice!

First time SW AND nano reef

I am curious about the reasoning, it it because of the wastes put off by about 6 inches of fish and resulting difficulty in keeping the tank balanced? Could this be kept on top of by more frequent monitoring and more frequent water changes? If I were to still want to get 2 fish in there, what...
